Will tea roses grow along a fence that runs North and south?

Gets enough sun to grow morning glories like crazy ;)

Kidding

Soil is good and dark. Most of the season it gets sun from sunrise until about three - and then its on the other side of the fence. [its a wooden fence about 7 feet tall]

If I can get rid of my pesky morning glories, do you think I could plop a few roses in there? I'd like to be able to grow some tea roses bushes, just so I can cut a few buds for vases.

I'm in Detroit (USDA zone 6b) by the way, if you have any suggestions.

Thanks all

there are a lot of things to take into account

how much light gets through your fence?

I have been told that roses need about 5 hours of sun a day

some rose will be o. k. with a bit less such as

Aain Blanchard, alba maxima, ALba Semi-plena, Botzaris Cabbage Rose Charles de mills, Double white Burnet....

your local nurcery could tell you--but you might not get a tea rose .
Reply:I had roses on the east side of my house once and they only got full sun until the early afternoon. They did fine.
