Why does Jesus fulfill all the prophecies of Lucifer? Why does no one else?

12How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!

13For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:

14I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.

15Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.

16They that see thee shall narrowly look upon thee, and consider thee, saying, Is this the man that made the earth to tremble, that did shake kingdoms;

17That made the world as a wilderness, and destroyed the cities thereof; that opened not the house of his prisoners?

18All the kings of the nations, even all of them, lie in glory, every one in his own house.

19But thou art cast out of thy grave like an abominable branch, and as the raiment of those that are slain, thrust through with a sw

Why does Jesus fulfill all the prophecies of Lucifer? Why does no one else?
He also raised the dead and healed the sick and preached about many things of peace and mildness and forgiveness.

Like he said, Satan cannot be against himself.

22?Then they brought him a demon-possessed man, blind and dumb; and he cured him, so that the dumb man spoke and saw. 23?Well, all the crowds were simply carried away and began to say: “May this not perhaps be the Son of David?” 24?At hearing this, the Pharisees said: “This fellow does not expel the demons except by means of Be·el′ze·bub, the ruler of the demons.” 25?Knowing their thoughts, he said to them: “Every kingdom divided against itself comes to desolation, and every city or house divided against itself will not stand. 26?In the same way, if Satan expels Satan, he has become divided against himself; how, then, will his kingdom stand? 27?Moreover, if I expel the demons by means of Be·el′ze·bub, by means of whom do YOUR sons expel them? This is why they will be judges of YOU. 28?But if it is by means of God’s spirit that I expel the demons, the kingdom of God has really overtaken YOU. 29?Or how can anyone invade the house of a strong man and seize his movable goods, unless first he binds the strong man? And then he will plunder his house. 30?He that is not on my side is against me, and he that does not gather with me scatters.
Reply:You should also quote revelations where Jesus is referred to as the son of the morning. You can quote OT where it says about the antichrist coming to do away with the law and the NT where it says Jesus came to do away with the law.

There is much more than that.
Reply:You might want to quit reading the bible.
Reply:Ezekiel 28:

13Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created.

14Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire.

15Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee.

16By the multitude of thy merchandise they have filled the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast sinned: therefore I will cast thee as profane out of the mountain of God: and I will destroy thee, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire.

17Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness: I will cast thee to the ground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee.

18Thou hast defiled thy sanctuaries by the multitude of thine iniquities, by the iniquity of thy traffick; therefore will I bring forth a fire from the midst of thee, it shall devour thee, and I will bring thee to ashes upon the earth in the sight of all them that behold thee.

19All they that know thee among the people shall be astonished at thee: thou shalt be a terror, and never shalt thou be any more.

that doesn't define Jesus. does this prophecy about Satan fall into the category of "all"?

What about the rest of the passage that you deliberately cut out?

ord, that go down to the stones of the pit; as a carcase trodden under feet.

20Thou shalt not be joined with them in burial, because thou hast destroyed thy land, and slain thy people: the seed of evildoers shall never be renowned.

Jesus DESTROYED Israel!?!?

right. you're stretching this one out big time. what about Genesis 3.15 that puts Jesus and Satan in direct opposition with one another? all of that to say that Satan was not a human being - this is evident from the writings of ezekiel, as he is a celestial being, one of the cherubims, and God's greatest creation.

When taken out of context and twisted, Isaiah could be understood to be speaking of Jesus, but when put in context with what other writers say about Satan, it is plain that Isaiah is not talking about Christ.

Are you woman or mirage?

This life is not enough

to understand a woman.

What a thing she is!

No dictionary has enough words

to say about a woman

whatever she is.

Sometimes we think

the woman is just like the summer.

Both may scorch all living beings.

A woman by saying harsh

and burning words.

All get burning anger.

Sometimes we think

the woman is just like the winter.

Both make all living things tremble.

A woman does it by terrifying.

Both make fearful all alive

made of bones and meats.

Sometimes we think

the woman is just like the spring.

Both make beings full of feelings

and dreams of love.

A woman does it by her charming smile

being full in glory and in full flower.

Both make the new world of love

pleasures and dreams.

Sometimes we think

the woman is just like the rain.

Both bring greenery

or destruction to life.

A woman does it by

showering his sweat

in the right or wrong way.

Both are useful

and both are destructive.

Sometimes we think

the woman is just like

the burning heat of June.

Everyone wants to go

far from it.

The woman is disliked

due to his selfishness.

Both are uninteresting

and non-exciting.

Sometimes we think

the woman is just like

the morningtime of January.

Both are lovable and enjoyable.

The morning offers

invigorating bath

by the sunbeams.

The woman gives the shelter

of friendly atmosphere.

Sometimes we think

the woman is just like the sun.

Both rise to light the world

by their great work.

The woman destroys the dark

of life by selfless service.

Both teach to be continuous in the work.

Sometimes we think

the woman is like the moon.

Weak at some times

strong at others.

Dispelling the dark

of some nights

not seen in the dark of others

always reflecting created light.

Sometimes we think

the woman is just like the mirage.

We become as far as we try

to go near to both.

Deer find no water and their thirst

is never slackened.

Are you woman or mirage?

Everyday its a fight b/w me and my 3 yr old to brush his teeth!?

i have tried to lure him with cute brushes..paste is also very tastety ...but i thnk what happens is ..as soon as i start brushing..he starts wriggling..or moving and it hurts him somewhere(mostly in the sides)..he yells...i have to hold him hold him very tight while he is yellnig away to glory before we finish brushing.i have tried to soothe him...told him good and bad stories..ntohing works..i brush after/before him to show him..but no use!

any ideas ?

also,is it as important to a 3yr old to brush in all sides and directions as a adult ?is it ok ..if i do it witj hand @least on the sides ?

i feel so bad to go through it every morning !

Everyday its a fight b/w me and my 3 yr old to brush his teeth!?
It will still be a fight for a while, but keep your ground. he will eventually let up a bit, but for years you will still have to hover over him to see that he does it. Mine is 9..I am still working on it. LOL There is a new item out called Listerine cool blue. It shows kids where the plaque is by turning their teeth blue. It may make it a bit more fun. Also, With my son I started a chart. if he did a good job he got a star. After so many stars he could get a prize. You can choose any kind of prize that will work for your child. Then he will help make the choice to "get it over with" instead of fighting with you. It may make it a bit easier on you. Oh, and YES it is important for them to brush well, even baby teeth and gums. Also those battery operated brushes make the job a bit faster. Kids seem to like the vibration. Good luck. Let me know if it helps you. I will keep my fingers crossed for you.
Reply:my nephew went through the same thing, only his mom wasn't as good at making him do it anyway. So when I went to visit we did it my way and it worked. Make a game of it. "Like open up ohh look you have animals in your teeth, we need to get the animals out." and start naming animals you see in his teeth. He most likely will find it fun and will be glad to chime in with animals he sees. It worked on my stubborn nephew he not only hated to brush his teeth, but he also hated toothpaste; now he is over it! he will brush his teeth toothpaste and all. Just make sure that the brush head is sized smaller for kids that way you will have more control over where you are brushing. Yes it is important to make sure you brush his teeth in all directions. Good luck and happy brushing!
Reply:My daughter went through this too. Once I explained why we need to brush our teeth and what happens if we don't ( "monster" cavitities) she was good to go. I figured she does not know what cavities are, but does know hwat a monster is so I put the two together so she would understand that cavities are bad. We always let her brush them last so she can keep learning to do it herself( and feel independent), and we go first to make sure she gets all her teeth. We have no more power struggles!! :)
Reply:will he not brush his teeth on his own ?

tell your dentist what's going on , hope they have

some tips, sounds like you have done all you can

all I can say is tell your child that if he does not

brush his teeth they will fall out %26amp; he won't be able

to eat the tings he likes to eat

good luck
Reply:You may have started it the wrong way and let him experience unpleasantness in the process.

Try this:

1. Show him pictures of decayed teeth and ask whether he wants his teeth to become that way.

2. Then start by using a finger brush on him gently until he feels confident that it is not so unpleasant. Do not do it by force.

3. Then let him do it himself, again until he feels comfortable. You can brush together. Once he gets the habit, you can teach him the correct way to brush.

There is an oral mouth-wash you can use which will stain food particles left on the teeth. This will show that correct brushing will help. You can ask your dental surgeon about this wash.
Reply:what I do with my son, is have 2 brushes, 1 for me and 1 for him - he has his turn, and then I have a turn doing them for him - we have a egg timer - and its set for 1 min - after then, its my turn for 1 min.

Personally I wouldn't force the issue as it's only going to make it worse - is it that bad that he does his teeth himself for a few weeks??

Make sure his mouth hygiene is good and eats healthily, and it shouldnt be that much of an issue - only really if he eats alot of choc etc..
Reply:For starters paste up his brush so it remains there until the task is done. The tastey toothpaste is a good idea as well as YOU brushing YOUR teeth in front of him to show what a PLEASURABLE experience it IS.

Get HIM to start doing this himself. At this point ANYTHING is better than nothing so don't worry about the quality of the brushing--that'll come later. Perhaps take a different approach such as a GAME of doing it but don't continue to "fight" him. The key here is PLEASURABLE.

If this fails then the withholding of priveleges must be administered, timeout, no play time until it's done. I agree you must stand your ground on this one.
Reply:I tell my 2 year old that we need to brush her friends and then proceed to go through all her teachers and the children at daycare. Some days I may use characters on TV. If she is done before all her teeth are brushed, I can say wait your forgot Mrs. Smith way back there. So far so good. I also take turns with her.
Reply:You're not giving him a choice.. he's 3.. and he's GOT to be hating that. What we tried with my son, was one of those power brushes. They have ones for little kids, my son has a Spiderman one (cause he loves Spiderman). Also, let him try brushing his own teeth. The first couple of times, he's not going to get the back and the sides. He'll probably only brush the front and maybe the tops of the back ones.. but it's not going to hurt anything.

He needs to have the control, that's what being a 3 year old is all about. He's becoming more and more independent and he's going to want to do it himself or nothing at all.

After a few days, try to make a game out of it. Ask to see his beautiful teeth and tell him he missed a spot, but let HIM try to get it himself. He's never going to learn what it takes to brush his teeth if he doesn't do it. So let him.. and eventually.. he'll do it right.

My jewler chipped my diamond!?

By mistake when I took my diamond into be serviced, I noticed the next morning it was foggy. I took it back to the jeweler to show him and he noticed it too. He was not the one who serviced the ring, but one of his workers. He took his loop and studied the diamond, which he knew quite well from previous work done on my ring, and noticed that the corner of my 2 carat trillion had been chipped. He said he would make it perfect again, but I wouldnt have it for the holidays. He called me today and said the diamond could not be repaired back to its glory and that I needed to come in and sit down with him to decided what we need to do. What should i expect from him? I didnt buy the diamond from him, just the setting. I do have insurance on the diamond, should I contact my insurance agent? What about the sentimental value of my original diamond, doesnt that count? Help please!

p.s.

this is a high end one owner store.

My jewler chipped my diamond!?
that is tricky, i would contact my insurance because once a diamond is chipped there is nothing you can do, i dont know what he wanted to do with your diamond over the holiday because all he could do would be fill it, and that will diminish the value just as much as the chip. if you didnt purchase the diamond from him and he was just cleaning it then he isnt liable, but if they were doing work on the ring then im sorry to say they are liable and much replace your diamond.
Reply:You are both insured, so work it out using that. It seems the jeweller understands you are entitled to a full replacement, so sit down and talk. The sentimental value does not come into play for the insurance, only the market value.
Reply:I am truely surprised that a high quality diamond could have been chipped in servicing. What did you have done?

I don't believe that you can insure for sentimental value. If your insurance agent can settle this amicably, you should accept the deal.
Reply:how the hell do you chip a diamond

they are one of the hardest stones on earth
Reply:This is a tough call. You do need to go and sit down with him, with your original appraisal, and make a decision as to what to do. Most likely, the stone will have to be replaced through your insurance policy. Please understand, he is not offering to repair or replace your stone because of the chip - trillions chip extremely easily, and there is no way to prove that the chip happened while in his shop - you could very easily have knocked your hand against a wall, or bumped the ring into something, and chipped the edge yourself. He is looking at the "fogginess" of the stone - generally something seen when the bench jeweler uses too high of a heat in the process of repairing your prong. Regardless, you will most likely be getting a new stone, after your insurance company has contacted the jeweler, gone over any appraisals, and makes a decision to how much it is worth to get it replaced.

As long as the jewelry store goes along with the insurance replacement value, you have no legal reprecussions at all - and if you were to try to spread nasty stories about the quality of their service, you could very easily be sued yourself. Play nice, and be happy you're dealing with a respectable jeweler who is willing to help you replace your stone.
Reply:Each party carries insurance - give them a call.
Reply:Please listen to me. This is what you must do. First, they have damaged your diamond. Diamonds CAN be damaged. They are very hard--but very brittle. Second, you will demand without anger--but without question--the full value monetary of that diamond---or-- have them replace it with one of YOUR choice which is of equal value. Anything else is NOT acceptable. If they argue, or refuse in any way, you must let them know that you will go fully public with the evidence and destroy their reputation. Accidents DO happen, and you must accept this. But they are required to replace with equal value the stone--including any work associated with the setting. This is your right. And nothing less should be offered to you. It sounds like your jeweler is willing to play ball. He has admitted that the diamond is damaged. Tell him the only answer now, is to replace it with a fully equivalent stone...or cash value of the stone, so you can buy it elsewhere. I am sure it was a horrible accident. So try to be patient. And I think he will make good on it. You may even end up with a better diamond! Stay cool. Know your rights. Be prepared to demand what you deserve without hesitation, if it is not offered to you. And finally, make good on your threat if they do not take care of you. A story like yours could virtually destroy their business overnight--and they know know it. Now you do too. Good Luck. I'm sure it will all work out in the end.
Reply:If we assume that the chip was not the result of any special act of negligence on the part of the jewler, it is unlikely that you could recover the full replacement value of the diamond through a law suit. This is because there is always a small risk when submitting jewelry for service, even by an expert, which the customer accepts. (Although this may not be a safe assumption -- diamonds are pretty darn hard).

Your insurance company is certainly the first phone call to make. The jewler will almost certainly have insurance of his own. Your insurance company will speak to his insurance company, and a settlement will be reached.

Your diamond is only insured for actual value. Therefore, what will most likely happen is that the damaged stone will be appraised by a neutral appraiser which both insurance companies can agree on. This appraisal will be compared with the original appraised value of the diamond, and you will be compensated for the difference.

The legal world doesn't care about sentimental value, unfortunately. If the jeweler *was* negligent and you could prove it (which is a long shot), and you have sustained material damages above and beyond the amount covered by insurance (remounting costs, etc.), then you might be able to recover these from the jeweler as well.

P.S. Regarding spreading stories about the jeweller. I advise you strongly not to do this. The other poster is absolutely correct: Such damaging stories could indeed destroy their business. The jeweller may take such a threat very seriously, and so does the law. If you publish or otherwise intentionally and maliciously distribute information to the effect of the jeweller being incompetent, knowing that the effect of these stories is to destroy, diminish, or otherwise interfere with the ability of the jeweller to do business, the jeweller can sue you for: (1) slander and (2) tortious interference with business relationships.

Once you have been hauled into court on these complaints, you will be forced to prove the factual accuracy of each and every statement you have made. This may sound simple, but if the plaintiff is mad at you, they can drag it out until it costs you far more than $17,000, and that is providing that you *win.*

Second, you may or may not be entitled to the replacement value of the stone. It really does depend on why the stone cracked, and what the jeweller did to make it crack.

Christians Only, Please! Will you please read my testimony and tell me what you think?

One day a few weeks ago I was praying to God first thing in the morning, asking Him to reshape my heart and my will to conform to His. I had prayed for that same thing many times before, but this time, as I was praying, I really felt God's presence much more closely and strongly than I ever had before. I sensed quite clearly His light and love and glory all around me. It was just as if a wall between God and me had been broken down at last and now I was standing in His holy light. WOW!!! Throughout that whole day I felt His love pouring down on me, and felt my spirit responding with so much adoration and gratitude toward Him, and so much love for others. I'm completely certain for the first time in my life that God has lit a lamp in my heart that will never go out. Let me tell you just a few of the changes He made in me:

Christians Only, Please! Will you please read my testimony and tell me what you think?
That certainly sounds like getting born-again to me. That is what it was like for me. Just the certaintly and peace and wanting from the heart to please God in everything. Isn't He wonderful? There is nothing like living in peace with God. Congratulations. Very happy for you. I'm sure you will be reading your Bible with a new hunger. Be careful not to start building any wall between you and God by feeling you are not doing everything the Bible says. Just keep on trying and growing, and God will help you be everything you should be.
Reply:Wonderful testimony! That's happened to me - very similar, and it really DOES feel like you are born again! You're a new person!

That's wonderful, praise God!
Reply:Words,

I am so excited for you! That is just a wonderful story and I am also a Christian. My wife and I had a wonderful Bible Study about twenty years ago and were baptized as a result of our belief in Jesus Christ. Keep reading and studying as well as praying each and every day. HIS WORD strengthens me every time that I open it up and read. Have a wonderful evening and a great New Year!

Thanks,

Reply:I say yes because this is how my spiritual rebirth came about. It's a whole new view of everything around you. So many people lose faith because their prayers are not answered. Seek the Kingdom first and then...
Reply:My experience:

I never believed! I wanted to find out for myself! I was an outlaw! One of the famous wild bunch of todays standards.

Even now as I walk the holy lands, I still enjoy my temptations, I like my booze, I like wild women! Think about them all the time! I want one now!!! smile

But, let me say this- I know what I do I will pay for. I know the holy land I walk on is GOD'S land. I have seen the truth. But what is temptation? exactly!
Reply:You ha every right to feel such amazement. God knows what we need even before we do and it is not an old cliche it is true. God knows that what you got is what you needed,

He will make more changes... wait and see
Reply:That is really wonderful. I am happy for you..God does amazing things..If we just pray, he does listen to us!

I had gotten away from God and I missed that feeling of first being saved and feeling that warmth and closeness with God..But I prayed for God to bring me very close to him and open up my heart and I have felt my heart change. It's a very beautiful thing..

It just shows how real God is..

And yes, my whole attitude on people and life has changed too !

This definitely means your 'born again'.. I had the same feelings.. It's like the veil is taken off of your eyes and you can see everything clearly !!

Make sure to read your Bible because that is God's word to us..When I read my Bible it is my intimate time with God and I really feel the holy spirit !

Good luck and God bless :)
Reply:This is a beautiful testimony. I pray you never forget it and know Jesus said...if you confess me before man I will confess you before the holy angels. Praise God.Thanks
Reply:"I was praying to God first thing in the morning, asking Him to reshape my heart and my will to conform to His" Excellent I see you know what prayer is for... You are a regenerate child of the Most High..

I want you to understand that God is a Father. A better Father than any man could be.. If a child is born to a Good Father would he through His new child out is the snow and cold it it got dirty? Would He clean His child and still love her. Once you are born of the Spirit you can't be unborn. rust Jesus to be that Father to you. He promise those that come to Him He will in no wise cast out... Praise Him for the life that is now yours as I do right now. Thanking Him that I have a new sister and someday I will see you as we stand before the mercy seat I will take you hand look up to our Lord and shout my thankfulness that you are indeed my sister.. Till then may we always be IHS Jim

It is hard to explain and convince people how it feels when God decides to release you from the devil's grip. God will help you if you let Him. Don't worry what other people think for they don't realize that the devil loves to dwell in the heart of an unbeliever.
Reply:whatever you do don't step into the light it may be hazardous to your health just kidding but really I am sorry to say that I am only an ex-christian but unlike most people who aren't christians I have this to say congratulations on finding faith in something I take it you aren't one of those people who would condemn a man for not believing in god and I applaud that.

Business

The priests bath?

It was time for Father John's Saturday night bath and the young nun,

Sister

Magdalene, had prepared the bath water and towels just the way the

old nun

had instructed.

Sister Magdalene was also instructed not to look at Father John's

nakedness

if she could help it, do whatever he told her to do, and pray.

The next morning the old nun asked Sister Magdalene how the Saturday

night

bath had gone.

'Oh, sister,' said the young nun dreamily, 'I've been saved.'

'Saved? And how did that come about?' asked the old nun.

'Well, when Father John was soaking in the tub, he asked me to wash

him,

and while I was washing him he guided my hand down between his legs

where he

said the Lord keeps the Key to Heaven.'

'Did he now?' said the old nun evenly.

Sister Magdalene continued, 'And Father John said that if the Key to

Heaven

fit my lock, the portals of Heaven would be opened to me and I would

be assured salvation and eternal peace.

And then Father John guided his Key to Heaven into my lock.'

'Is that a fact?' said the old nun even more evenly.

'At first it hurt terribly, but Father John said the pathway to

salvation

was often painful and that the glory of God would soon swell my heart

with

ecstasy. And it did, it felt so good being saved.'

'That wicked old bastard' said the old nun. 'He told me it was

Gabriel's

Horn, and I've been blowing it for 40 years.'

The priests bath?

Going to Heaven -- What Does the Bible Say?

My name is Jerry Lovett. I am writing this letter to tell you how to know for certain that you are going to Heaven. Today, many people are not very familiar with what the Bible says about the requirements for going to Heaven. Most people believe that they must be a good person, or at least that they must do more good things than bad. Almost everyone can think of someone worse than they are, so they believe that God will let them into Heaven when the time comes.

The truth is that the Bible teaches that few people will make it to Heaven. Jesus said, "Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it." I’m writing this letter to be sure that you are on the right road.

If something terrible happened and you were to die, do you know for certain that you would go to Heaven? Did you know that in the United States that 2,400,000 people die every year? Many people purchase life insurance so that their family will be taken care of if they were to die suddenly, yet few people take the time to find out where they are going when they die. Don’t wait until it is too late to make sure you are ready.

The Bible gives us God’s plan for going to Heaven:

Admit you are a sinner.

If you have ever broken any of the Ten Commandments, you are a sinner. Have you ever let something else come between you and God? Have you ever worshipped an image, object, or living thing as though it was God? Have you ever used God’s name as a curse word? Have you ever failed to keep the Sabbath day holy? Have you ever been disrespectful to your parents? Have you ever committed murder or bitterly hated someone? Have you ever committed adultery or had impure thoughts about another person? Have you ever taken something that was not yours? Have you ever told a lie? Have you ever been jealous of other people’s possessions? If you have every done any of these things, even just once, you are a sinner. The Bible says that we are ALL sinners. "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."

The punishment you deserve.

The Bible teaches that God will punish sinners with death. "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord". This death is an eternal painful suffering with no relief. God has reserved a place for sinners that is separate from Heaven. That place is called Hell. Few people want to hear about Hell. The Bible says, "If your hand causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life maimed than with two hands to go into Hell, where the fire never goes out." In the Bible, a rich man in Hell cries out, "Father Abraham, have pity on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in agony in this fire." There is no relief for those in Hell. I’m not telling you about Hell in order to scare you. I’m telling you this because I care and I don’t want anyone to go there.

God loves you.

God loves you and does not want you to go to Hell. To show His love for you, God came to earth as a man named Jesus Christ in order to warn sinners to repent (or turn away from their sins). Jesus then paid for our sins by dying on the cross. He did this before you ever knew about Him. The Bible says, "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us."

You must believe.

The Bible says that, "If you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved." As you yield your life to Him, God will help you turn from your sins. You cannot overcome sin without His help. The Bible says, "Unless you repent you will all likewise perish."

The Bible teaches that we cannot be saved through our own efforts, or works. "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast."

Some people believe that they cannot be saved because they have done too many bad things. Do not listen to this lie. The Bible says, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."

The Bible compares our salvation experience to becoming a "new creation" or being "born again". "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!" Jesus says, "I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again."

Pray

So, how do you go about getting saved? It is very simple. You need to pray to God. Just talk to Him like you would your very best friend, because no one loves you as much as God does. Just pour your heart out to Him and tell Him how sorry you are for the sins you have committed and the pain they have caused Him. Thank Him for sending Jesus to die on the cross in your place and for raising Him from the dead. Ask Jesus to come into your heart, to save your soul, and to become the Lord of your life, so that you can spend eternity in Heaven.

Remember the Bible says, "If you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved." It really is that simple. This is not a magic spell. The exact words do not matter as much as the attitude of your heart. If you do not truly mean what you say, you will still go to Hell.

Assurance of salvation.

If you prayed a prayer similar to the one described above and you meant it with all your heart, then you can be assured that you are saved and will go to Heaven. No one can take this away from you. For this not to be true, God would have to be a liar. Jesus said, "I tell you the truth, whoever hears My Word and believes Him Who sent Me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand."

What’s next?

Once you are saved, you will still not be perfect. The Holy Spirit has come into your heart and will help you to change over time. You will only become completely perfect when you reach Heaven. It is very important for you to spend time each day in prayer and reading your Bible. Take a few minutes each morning to read at least one chapter of the Bible. Start with the New Testament first. God will speak to you through His Word. "Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path." You probably will not hear an audible voice, but the Holy Spirit will impress things upon your heart. "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight." You should also attend a church that teaches God’s Word: the Bible.

What about baptism?

Jesus Christ commands new believers to be baptized. This is a public way to formally identify yourself with Christ and to be a witness to others. As you go under the water, you identify with Christ’s death. As you come up out of the water, you identify with His resurrection and the start of your new life, because He has raised you up from the dead. The water represents the blood of Christ washing away your sins. Baptism demonstrates our love for Christ and our willingness to obey everything that He has commanded us to do. Imagine if you married someone and they were not willing to wear your wedding ring. This would bring into question how much they really loved you. Baptism doesn’t make you saved any more than a wedding ring makes you married, but if you aren’t willing to be baptized, then you should seriously question whether or not you have made Jesus the Lord of your life. If you have given your life to Christ, then make it public by obeying Christ and being baptized right away. Jesus said, "If you love me, you will obey what I command."

The Fireball Approach: How Insular is Religion?

Okay, sorry about the R%26amp;S reference, but I think most regulars are familiar with Fireball's tendancy to classify questions as unworthy of the R%26amp;S section, and it leads me to question how pervasive religion really is in people's lives.

This morning, someone asked about the religion of the Omaha mall shooter. Constantly we are being asked about the faiths of Mitt Romney and Mike Huckabee and George Bush. Often such questions are deemed inapropriate to the section because they supposedly belong in Current Events or Politics or whatever. BUT, if your religion is supposed to inform your every decision, then shouldn't ALL questions be in the R%26amp;S section? Shouldn't the devout Christians be coming here to find a baby name that brings glory to God or to determine what car - if any - is most in line with the spiritual teachings of their particular sect? Can we not assume that any question asked here is looking for a spiritual perspective, or does the question need to ask "what would

The Fireball Approach: How Insular is Religion?
I have seen and borne witness to FB's "tendencies" as you called it, and others, and to me religion and/or a person's beleifs is VERY pervasive in rheir lives. I know it is in mine.

I don't deem alot of questions asked here as inappropiate. I don't believe some questions should be taken to another area just because they don't have the words religion, beliefs, christian, etc. in them. I allow religion and personal beliefs to influence my actions, but I don't allow them to make my decions because I do believe we are to keep an open mind and act logically and resonably.

I think sometimes some questions should be asked in R%26amp;S and not other sections, but I don't believe that they should come here just because they belong to a particular sect. There is no label christian, muslim, theiest, etc. on this site, and many of the questions that are asked here I believe belong to this section and/or philosophy.

To me this is just another form of philosophy, and I was surprised to see the two so far apart. You have asked an excellent question, and I dn't think that you should add "What would Jesus do," because I believe he would agree you have made a valid point in spirituality.
Reply:You make a great point. However, I believe that if a person is really looking for a religious or spiritual perspective, he/she will more or less make it known.

But I do agree with you - FB approach is just rude and mean in my eyes. Simply don't answer it if it doesn't suit you.

EDIT: Yes, if you're a person who happens to assume the best of people. I believe I'm such a person and I bet you are too - the opposite would actually be the roots of FB approach.

.
Reply:"this is R%26amp;S you're off topic"

if it's about "religion" it belongs here...

that question specifically asked "what religion" ding ding ding, religion section....

if it said, "does anyone know if the shooter was white?" then that belongs in current events, or in race issues...
Reply:I have to assume that a person wants a religious and/or spiritual perspective if they put the question here. Yes, religion colors everything, especially since it has made such huge breaches in the wall of separation between church and state. We need to know that we will not have four more, let alone eight more, years of tearing down that wall.

If someone does not want an R%26amp;S perspective in their answers, let them take the time to put it in the appropriate category.

Or just dump them all in Polls %26amp; Surveys, which seems to be the "miscellaneous" category ever since it was created. We originally had a Community Guideline against polling questions, as they were assumed to be point gaming. Then the Y!A team bowed to user pressure and created its own category.
Reply:idk, this is religion here.
Reply:Try 'Philosophy'. This is religion here!
Reply:Wow, I don't think you need an answer.
Reply:If you are a very spiritual person, it affects everything you do or think, I guess it depends on whether you are viewing it as an outsider or an insider, so yes it is insular.

I always thought religion and spirituality was where philosophy, science and human everyday living meets, if slightly awkwardly.

Fireball though, just likes a good whine...gotta love her though.
Reply:This kind of modular thinking is the only way these kinds of people can function in this world as they do. For instance, they manage to segregating everything scientific they have decided to believe from the science they throw out because it is contrary to their myths, and act as if they feel no conflict. This automatically means duplicity, since, like everyone else, they live by naturalistic assumptions (necessarily). Thus, the groundwork is already set for the divided intellect they display. It's a symptom of the larger mental disorder that is and sustains belief in Abrahamic religion.
Reply:I wonder if FB even noticed that R%26amp;S is included in Society and Culture... I think that says it all.

Because religion is part of society and culture, it can influence pretty much ANY facet of life. Obviously barring things which religions have no teachings on... Such as automotive repair or IT stuff.

Funny or not?

It was time for Father John's Saturday night bath, and young nun, Sister Magdalene had prepared the bath water and towels just the way the old nun had instructed. Sister Magdalene was also instructed not to look at Father John's nakedness if she could help it, do whatever he told her to do, and pray.

The next morning the old nun asked Sister Magdalene how the Saturday night bath had gone.

"Oh, sister," said the young nun dreamily. "I've been saved.

"Saved? And how did that fine thing come about?" asked the old nun "Well, when Fr. John was soaking in the tub, he asked me to wash him, and while I was washing him he guided my hand down between his legs where he said the Lord keeps the Key to Heaven."

"Did he now?" said the old nun evenly.

Sister Magdalene continued, "And Fr. John said that if the Key to Heaven fit my lock, the portals of Heaven would be opened to me and I would be assured of salvation and eternal peace. And then Father John guided his Key to Heaven into my lock."

"Is that a fact?" said the old nun even more evenly.

"At first it hurt terribly, but Fr. John said the pathway to salvation was often painful and that the glory of God would soon swell my heart with ecstasy. And it did, it felt so good being saved."

"That wicked old Devil!" said the old nun. "He told me it was Gabriel's Horn, and I've been blowing it for 40 years!"

To start with, he planned to put forth a question to the class. He said, "Well students, before we start off with today's lecture, let me ask you a simple question on human anatomy".

He gazed across the classroom, spotted a female student Suzie, and said, "Tell me Suzie, which part of the human body grows 10 times its original size when excited?"

Hearing this question, Suzie's face grew pale in embarrassment, she replied:" you should be ashamed to ask such a question to a female. I am sorry, but I can't answer your, this question".

Thwarted by the girl's reply, professor smith rolled on his sight around the classroom afresh, to find out if there was anyone else who could satisfy his query.

This time he located a male student Henry, who had already raised his hand in affirmation to answer the question, and allowed the lad to go ahead.

Henry answered: "pupil of a human eye".

The professor applauded for the boy's accurate answer; then turned back to Suzie and said: "look, Suzie, I am sorry but, I must tell you a couple of things:

Crews had pulled her grandfather's body from the Kankakee River in eastern Illinois just hours earlier.

"People were like, 'Who's that little girl? That can't be her, can it?'" Kankakee Sheriff's Chief Deputy Ken McCabe said. "I went up to her (and) asked, 'How you doing? What's your name?'"

When authorities told Hannah Klamecki's family — already grieving the loss of her grandfather — that she was alive, the home erupted in screaming.

Hannah was taken to a hospital as a precaution. She slept with her parents and a teddy bear at her side before being released. Cradling the bear, she spoke freely of her ordeal Friday evening.

"I was scared last night when everybody was gone," she said. "I went searching all over the world to look for the cottage (where her grandparents live)."

Hannah had scratches on her face and body and thick dirt under her nails. She had poison ivy rashes on her legs and couldn't walk because splinters and thorns cut her feet.

Hannah and her grandfather, David Klamecki, 62, were last seen Wednesday evening on the river near Momence, about 45 miles south of Chicago.

Authorities believe the river current swept the girl away from a small island where she and her grandfather had stopped to swim and to the shore of the mainland where she eventually was found.

She told searchers she was wearing floats on her arms and pulled herself from the water with a branch.

"That's a tough little girl, I tell you," McCabe said.

Hannah said she had taken off her bathing suit because it was muddy and itchy, friends of the family said.

She was also a bit dehydrated and "very, very tired," said Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee spokesman Carl Maronich.

On Friday morning, searchers found her grandfather's body near the island, which is close to a part of the river locals call "Whirlpool Bend" because of strong currents from the union of the river and two tributaries.

The surrounding area is wilderness with no homes, and populated only by coyotes and deer, Momence Fire Chief Dave Horn said.

Richard Wehrle, a friend and neighbor of David Klamecki, said the area is notoriously treacherous.

"Anybody who knows that river knows that that's the deadliest part of the river," Wehrle said.

The girl's footprints were still visible on the island beach. Searchers believed she had drowned and were scouring the area with a team of divers, sonar equipment and a helicopter.

Hannah appeared just before 10:30 a.m., in an area about three-quarters of a mile from where she's believed to have reached the shore, McCabe said.

The girl was reunited with her parents, who were waiting with family and friends at the grandparents' home.

Hannah calmly sat in a rescue vehicle when her parents saw her for the first time, her father said.

"She didn't say much," Mike Klamecki said. "She was eating her banana looking at us. We were jumping around like maniacs."

Tricia Little, a close family friend of Hannah's parents, said David Klamecki taught the girl and her two younger sisters about the outdoors. She credits that instruction — and God — with Hannah's survival.

Hannah's father, Mike Klamecki, is senior pastor at New Hope Community Church in Villa Park. Little's husband, Brian, said parishioners have been "praying for his whole family."

"Obviously, we're giving all the glory to God on this one," Brian Little said.

Is this even possible//?
It's an amazing story. What a brave and resourceful, and lucky, little girl. Unfortunately her grandfather wasn't so lucky.
Reply:What is your question?

Is it really necessary, these days, to act aggressively and eff & blind during ordinary conversation?

A simple mistake on our roads can earn you a smack in the gob. Normal? Say good morning to some folk and they look at you as if you are puddled. Normal? Traffic wardens and security guards acting like the SAS. Normal? Pregnant girls showing off their bare bump in public. Normal? Kick an old women to death for her pension. Normal? Getting drunk and vomiting in the street. Normal? Killing young black kids. Normal? Carrying knives and guns in the street. Normal? Let's kick a phone box to bits! Let's do some happy slappy! Let's batter children, let's batter wives and disrespect everybody elses property and belongings. Let's live in another country and blow a bus or two to bits. Land of hope and glory is now classified as normal. After all, this democratically elected government has told you so.

Is it really necessary, these days, to act aggressively and eff %26amp; blind during ordinary conversation?
I feel your pain brother. I like to go to the country where there is no people and bond with nature ,catch a fish or two, it balances my mind . It sheilds my from all that stuff like a rain coat to rain. good luck

Reply:This is not really a question. This is a rant. A tirade. I completely agree with everything you say here, but there is no point in posing it as a question, when that question has already been answered, both in your mind, and in the world around you. Just strive to not join the "speck mentality" or the masses.

That which is understood need not be discussed.
Reply:You are complaining about human nature! It is NORMAL to want your 15 minutes of fame, it is also normal to try and extend that as long as possible. In order to be noticed you have to do something extra. The things you describe are people doing exactly that. They have no role models, or chose to ignore them, so they do the easy thing, violence.

Is this not a true and well timed story?

With the showing of "Flags of Our Fathers", I think this is an interesting and enlightening story

Tale of Six Boys

Each year I am hired to go to Washington, DC, with the eighth grade class

from Clinton, WI. where I grew up, to videotape their trip. I greatly enjoy

visiting our nation's capitol, and each year I take some special memories

back with me. This fall's trip was especially memorable.

On the last night of our trip, we stopped at the Iwo Jima memorial. This

memorial is the largest bronze statue in the world and depicts one of the

most famous photographs in history -- that of the six brave soldiers raising

the American Flag at the top of a rocky hill on the island of Iwo Jima,

Japan, during WW II.

Over one hundred students and chaperones piled off the buses and headed

towards the memorial. I noticed a solitary figure at the base of the statue,

and as I got closer he asked, "Where are you guys from?"

I told him that we were from Wisconsin. "Hey, I'm a cheese head, too! Come

gather around, Cheese heads, and I will tell you a story."

(James Bradley just happened to be in Washington, DC, to speak at the

memorial the following day. He was there that night to say good night to his

dad, who has since passed away. He was just about to leave when he saw the

buses pull up. I videotaped him as he spoke to us, and received his

permission to share what he said from my videotape. It is one thing to tour

the incredible monuments filled with history in Washington, D.C., but it is

quite another to get the kind of insight we received that night.) When all

had gathered around, he reverently began to speak. (Here are his words that

night.)

"My name is James Bradley and I'm from Antigo, Wisconsin. My dad is on that

statue, and I just wrote a book called "Flags of Our Fathers" which is #5 on

the New York Times Best Seller list right now. It is the story of the six

boys you see behind me.

"Six boys raised the flag. The first guy putting the pole in the ground is

Harlon Block. Harlon was an all-state football player. He enlisted in the

Marine Corps with all the senior members of his football team. They were off

to play another type of game. A game called "War." But it didn't turn out to

be a game.

Harlon, at the age of 21, died with his intestines in his hands. I don't say

that to gross you out, I say that because there are people who stand in

front of this statue and talk about the glory of war. You guys need to know

that most of the boys in Iwo Jima were 17, 18, and 19 years old.

(He pointed to the statue) "You see this next guy? That's Rene Gagnon from

New Hampshire. If you took Rene's helmet off at the moment this photo was

taken and looked in the webbing of that helmet, you would find a

photograph... a photograph of his girlfriend. Rene put that in there for

protection because he was scared. He was 18 years old. Boys won the battle

of Iwo Jima Boys. Not old men.

"The next guy here, the third guy in this tableau, was Sergeant Mike Strank.

Mike is my hero. He was the hero of all these guys. They called him the "old

man" because he was so old. He was already 24. When Mike would motivate his

boys in training camp, he didn't say, 'Let's go kill some Japanese' or

'Let's die for our country.' He knew he was talking to little boys. Instead

he would say, 'You do what I say, and I'll get you home to your mothers.'

"The last guy on this side of the statue is Ira Hayes, a Pima Indian from

Arizona. Ira Hayes walked off Iwo Jima He went into the White House with my

dad. President Truman told him, 'You're a hero' He told reporters, 'How can

I feel like a hero when 250 of my buddies hit the island with me and only 27

of us walked off alive?' So you take your class at school, 250 of you

spending a year together having fun, doing everything together. Then all 250

of you hit the beach, but only 27 of your classmates walk off alive. That

was Ira Hayes. He had images of horror in his mind. Ira Hayes died dead

drunk, face down at the age of 32 .. ten years after this picture was taken.

"The next guy, going around the statue, is Franklin Sousley from Hilltop,

Kentucky A fun-lovin' hillbilly boy. His best friend, who is now 70, told

me, 'Yeah, you know, we took two cows up on the porch of the Hilltop General

Store. Then we strung wire across the stairs so the cows couldn't get down.

Then we fed them Epsom salts. Those cows crapped all night. Yes, he was a

fun-lovin' hillbilly boy. Franklin died on Iwo Jima at the age of 19. When

the telegram came to tell his mother that he was dead, it went to the

Hilltop General Store. A barefoot boy ran that telegram up to his mother's

farm. The neighbors could hear her scream all night and into the morning.

The neighbors lived a quarter of a mile away.

"The next guy, as we continue to go around the statue, is my dad, John

Bradley from Antigo, Wisconsin, where I was raised. My dad lived until 1994,

but he would never give interviews. When Walter Cronkite's producers, or the

New York Times would call, we were trained as little kids to say 'No, I'm

sorry, sir, my dad's not here. He is in Canada fishing. No, there is no

phone there, sir. No, we don't know when he is coming back. My dad never

fished or even went to Canada. Usually, he was sitting there right at the

table eating his Campbell's soup. But we had to tell the press that he was

out fishing. He didn't want to talk to the press.

"You see, my dad didn't see himself as a hero. Everyone thinks these guys

are heroes, 'cause they are in a photo and on a monument. My dad knew

better. He was a medic. John Bradley from Wisconsin was a caregiver. In Iwo

Jima he probably held over 200 boys as they died. And when boys died in Iwo

Jima, they writhed and screamed in pain.

"When I was a little boy, my third grade teacher told me that my dad was a

hero. When I went home and told my dad that, he looked at me and said, 'I

want you always to remember that the heroes of Iwo Jima are the guys who did

not come back. Did NOT come back.'"

"So that's the story about six nice young boys. Three died on Iwo Jima, and

three came back as national heroes. Overall, 7,000 boys died on Iwo Jima in

the worst battle in the history of the Marine Corps. My voice is giving out,

so I will end here. Thank you for your time."

Suddenly, the monument wasn't just a big old piece of metal with a flag

sticking out of the top. It came to life before our eyes with the heartfelt

words of a son who did indeed have a father who was a hero. Maybe not a hero

for the reasons most people would believe, but a hero nonetheless.

We need to remember that God created this vast and glorious world for us to

live in, freely, but also at great sacrifice. Let us never forget from the

Revolutionary War to the current War on Terrorism and all the wars

in-between that sacrifice was made for our freedom. Remember to pray praises

for this great country of ours and also pray for those still in murderous

unrest around the world. STOP and thank God for being alive and being free

at someone else's sacrifice.

REMINDER: Everyday that you can wake up free is a blessing.

Brushing Teeth

Is this a good poem?

It's for my favorite teacher whenever I graduate from middle school and go into high school:

We were buddies, amigos, friends. We shared too many memories to count. Thanks for listening to me.

Everyday I said good morning, I said goodbye every afternoon. Whenever I said, "Have a nice weekend, Mr. Boley," it was always said in a cheerful way. Thanks for listening to me.

Our little jokes we shared makes me wish I'd never leave, and when I do, will you remember me? In 10 years, will you think back to that girl who wasn't afraid to be a dork in front of everyone? Thanks for listening to me.

Art was fun, especially when I drew ninjas and dragons, and had glory, at least for a while. Youwere the first one I shwed it to, "God job, Nicole," you'd aften say, I smiled and was modest, "It's not that good, really.." was my usual response, I knew my art was good, and you did, too. Thanks for listening to me.

I'll always be a kid, and if I am, will you be one with me, too? I may be small, but I'm going to be famous someday, just ou wait. And when I accept my awards, I will say, "Thanks for listening to me, Mr. Boley."

I leave middle school behind, and head into the great unknown. Maybe someone will listen to me as well as you did. Most likely not. If we never meet again, you won't be forgotten by the class of 2012. I will remember you. Try not to forget me, like so many others will. Mr. Boley, thanks for listening to me, teacher man.

Always,

Nicole

Remember these words-

"Sing your song, dance your dance, tell your tale."

Is this a good poem?
It is a nice essay, but, I'm sorry to say, It is not a poem. It has no meter, rhythm, word flow, or any other poetic redeeming quality. Even at that, he'll love it, because you have put beautiful sentiment into it.

Reply:It is a very good poem, but you have made it a tad too personal. Maybe if you remove the buddies, it maynot sound too close. Remember his reputation.
Reply:awwww, your teacher will be very touched that you wrote this! watch for spelling errors, though...if youre trying to perfect it. it is very sweet, and any teacher would be so touched to have it.
Reply:it sounds more like a letter then a poem. but its a good letter...hope that helps ??
Reply:What you call a poem, I call "something written personally to a teacher in a yearbook".

It's not a poem. I'm glad you enjoyed school.
Reply:it doesn't really seem like a poem but would be a really nice speech/ letter. I like the repetition of "thanks for listening to me"

also, "Teacher man" is kinda weird, don't you think? funny but weird.
Reply:I wouldn't say it's a good poem, but it is great in so many ways. Your teacher will love it. You put a lot of thought, effort and expression into it. It's something he will cherish and give him the inspiration to continue being a caring teacher for all his students.
Reply:I think He'll like it. You made a few mispellings, but that's the only thing I see wrong with it. Nice job!

This kinda reminds me of Mr. Crowley, lol.
Reply:YES it is very sweet and caring!
Reply:it's okay but don't make it so detailed and stuff

"thanks for listening to ME"
Reply:Often is spell "often" not "aften". There are some little mistakes in your poem. Mainly spelling mistake.

Your poem doesn't rhyme, but it sounds good and makes sense. I give you kudos for that. I am sick of the traditional "rhyming poems".

Anyways, this would be a very good present for your teacher. Art is not the only thing you're talented at.

Keep it up.

Best of luck!

Funny or not?

What does the Orthodox Church teach about Christmas?

Will the real holy day please stand up Among the many misguided ideas of Christmas is the modern Santa Claus. His real life is mocked; he is not the fat and jolly sort that Coca-Cola commercialism has promoted him to be. St. Nicholas was known for giving gifts in stockings to the needy, early in the 4th century. It is good to remember and follow his example of sacrificial giving. He was a bishop who struck the heretic Arius in the face for his blasphemies against the Son of God and His Most Pure Mother. The day of his commemoration is about 3 weeks before the Nativity of the Lord. Webster's dictionary says that the word “Christmas” comes from the Middle English “Christemasse”, from just before the 12th century, “Christ's Mass” of the Pope’s church. I have never found any good source for using the term “mass” today; it comes from that vast wasteland of Papism. The Protestants have continued in erroneous inventions of Christmas themselves. We should not even use the term “Christmas” out of hand, unless we are certain that the temptations of such are put in check. Matthew 12:36 ‘But I say unto you, that every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the Day of Judgment.’ Likewise the term “Xmas” has no good place. About 1000 years ago the Western Christians changed the worship from bread and wine to a wafer. The Protestants worship went worse with things like the wafer and grape juice. How anyone would want to follow them by titling anything “mass” is beyond me. As the Western Churches (Roman Catholics and Protestants) have been in such errors for 1,000 years there is really no way we should participate with their terminology. Whichever way we think of it “Christmas” is a religious concept to those who celebrate it and it is a false one. If we want to do what is right we should not go out of our way to practice or participate in such terms with them. As far as designating this holy day it is best to use the common way of expression used by the early Church. We should not use the pagan/secular names for months or days, like December or Wednesday. According to the practice of the Lord’s Church, The Nativity of the Lord would be stated this year this way. “The first day of the 30th week after Pentecost, in the 7515th year from Adam and Eve.” If I have my calculations right. The commemoration of the birth of the Lord (more closely titled, The Nativity of our Lord) falls on the Old Julian calendar date of December 25th. In 1582 Pope Gregory XIII hired pagans to create his New Gregorian calendar that changed existing dates by days. This ‘out of order’ calendar of the pope is what our godless society uses today. Now, the original and actual December 25th falls on what most know as January 6th/7th. There are records of different dates being recognized as the Lord's Nativity. I see the Old Calendar date as being more correctly assigned, because those with the best judgment used it, it has been used for the longest time and by the most people. At this present time there is no way to come to a better conclusion. I see no good reason for recognizing twice in a single year one holy day, so I stay with the time tested one. To mix up holy days only sows yet even more discord among an already fouled faith of the popes and the rest. About the question of pagan holidays being used by godly people. Many claim that we should not even celebrate a day of the Lord’s Nativity due to it previously being of pagan origin. I do not see how pagans can have a monopoly on any given day. It certainly would be wrong to do the practices of pagans. To recognize a day of God's plan, where His Son is given to us, is not wrong. It further shows what God actually has done and gives us the opportunity to give Him more glory, dedicate more time to that specific thought and make it more a part of our life. I believe we should stop and remove any contradictory pagan practices that the world may have previously adhered to, but we cannot remove a whole day from the calendar just because somebody wrongly claims it is paganism. There are so many pagan festivals that it would be a practical impossibility to avoid all of them anyway. God set a calendar with dates of recognizing His plan for mankind. Pagans cannot overrule what God has done. Those who say that godly people cannot use a pagan day (which God actually made in the first place) is missing the whole point and oppose the celebration of holy days which God in His infinite wisdom instituted long before them. There are also people who question the use of Christmas trees, the Yule log, holly, mistletoe, etc. I really do not know of any good source for the use of such items in the home. I personally think that the trees are a waste of time and money for something that makes a complete mess and is not easily disposed of. Till I find some good reason to use such decorations I will not. I also think that the words of the holy prophet Jeremiah should make us reconsider doing such things. Jeremiah 10:2-4 Thus saith the LORD, Learn ye not the ways of the heathen, and be not alarmed at the signs of the sky; for they are alarmed at them, falling on their faces. For the customs of the nations are vain; it is a tree cut out of the forest, the work of the carpenter, or a molten image. They are beautified with silver and gold; they fix them with hammers and nails. (LXX) If somebody who celebrates Christmas wants to give me a gift I will accept it, if it is not overtly bad, I will then use it for what is good if I can. However, I will not participate in that day's gift giving for the purpose of the heretics Christmas, for that is not the time to be celebrating. It is never wrong to give good gifts. No matter what gift I might give I think it should be helpful and practical. I think that things made personally are best, those that are hand crafted, or something of a spiritual nature would apply best. We should not be expecting anything, but only be thinking of what it is we can give away and do without. Also, there is the shame of all the Christmas parties before their time. This is not how it should be at all. There is a time known as Advent, a time of preparation, where we deny ourselves, looking forward to the feast of the Nativity of our Lord. The time for exuberance is not before but during and immediately after the feast. It has been forgotten that we should not celebrate early. Parties that are done early destroy the whole purpose of having holy days in the first place. The purpose is to make all the time we are given more spiritually profitable. Most people understand Christmas Eve as being the whole day before Christmas. Really the evening is the first part of the day, so the day starts with the evening. In Genesis it is explained, “there was evening and there was morning” (one day). So, all these Eve's should be understood as just the evening before, which is really the first part of that one day. There is another point to make, about Poinsettia’s. In America they are a hybrid mutation, man-made and the use of them comes from Papists. There is really no good example for the way they are used nowadays. In a time when everybody works to be so traditional they seem to be inventing. For me I simply would not even consider having something which tries to out do God’s design, like the development of the modernist Poinsettia. There is almost nothing left that is the way God planned it, nearly everything is genetically altered and fake. We truly do live in more of a make-believe world than we know. My goal is to get away from it all somehow. The bottom line is this. I hope, with all tenaciousness, to keep what I have found which is good. That would include not using the heretic terminology of “Christmas” and not following the questionable practices of the papal calendar and not having pagan-like decorated trees, etc. To decorate during a time when restraint is called for (the Nativity fast) makes no sense at all. I do not wish to be mean-spirited toward others who follow a different way, but if others would reconsider these things for themselves I think it would be nice.

What does the Orthodox Church teach about Christmas?
The Orthodox Christian church calls Christmas "Christougennia" (Christ's Birth). It is the second most important feast in the Orthodox calendar, the first being Pascha (Easter).

For more information I would recommend checking out the Greek Orthodox Church in America's website. http://www.goarch.org/en/special/listen_...
Reply:I agree totally. I want Christmas to be a more spiritual holy day also. I enjoyed reading your message.
Reply:Your forgot that the X in Xmas is the Greek symobol for Christ

Christ's Mass is the best meaning of Christmas
Reply:I love Christmas, don't you?

Merry Christmas in Greek is pronounced KahLAH

HreesTOU yeh nah! - Καλ? Χριστο?γεννα, Remember the ol Sammy Davis Christmas song?

Well, we believe it is the Birthday of our Lord Jesus.

Some Orthodox Choose to celebrate in January sometime after the New Years Celebration, but the important thing is that Jesus was born, lived, was crucified, and resurrected by God the Father. Amen.

I Cr 13;8a
Reply:Did you know when Jesus was really born? Of course, not at wintertime for that will be contradictory to the accounts in the Bible. Neither on December 25 nor on January 6/7. The date that the Holy Spirit revealed to us is May 23. I first heard this date in 1983. It was only in 2004 that I did a study if the revelation is right or wrong. After two years, in 2006, I found it to be true and correct. The year, believe it or not, is 33 BC. Jesus was therefore 32 solar years old when He died or 33 lunar years. The results of my study is found at http://www.geocities.com/peacecrusader88...

I would like to emphasize that the date came from the Holy Spirit Himself. I did not pick it out from thin air. I just checked it out. Did you know that had I proven Him to be wrong, I would have withdrawn by belief in Him? Did you know that He risked His credibility by giving such date? He also gave the date when Jesus was crucified and died—August 17. The year is 1 BC. I found it true and correct as well in 2003 after four years of study. The results are at http://www.geocities.com/peacecrusader88...

Who do you think could be right in both dates?
Reply:It looks like you are a bit of an old calendarists there.

The isue that we use the civil calender is going to be irelevant but I as an Orthodox Christian beleive it is qute important to celebrate the birth of Christ as well as his passin and resurection. I love the Icon of the Nativity.....and plato all Orhtodox Icons of Christ use the greek charitcers of Ic Xc

for Jeusus Christ. I have no objection to X-mass

and hestia the term you just used is only the greek term.
Reply:you do realize that you ask....we answer.

if the game was you ask, you answer....you wouldn't need us. and with long winded crap like that, guess what? you don't have us.

Valentines Poem - What do you think.?

Some people think it’s just to shop

Commercial profit to top it off

But strip away the dollar signs

And all you find is St Valentines

Long ago through history’s glory

Legends tells of loves true story

St Valentine is jailed and waits

As he will not renounce his faith

The jailer’s daughter he befriends

And finds he loves her to the end

When deaths morning does arrive

A lovers note he leaves behind

And in his hand he does inscribe

The words ‘From Your Valentine’

So just remember every year

The tale that was not engineered

And pass between us lovers notes

To tell of feelings we devote

For love that is held and yearned

In hopes that it will be returned

There is only one thing left to say

With all my heart in every way

So fortunate that you are mine

Please will you be my Valentine

Have you ever seen BRAVERY BEYOND BELIEF in action?

This morning as I went to check the girls and see if there was anything for my breakfast I witnessed a terrible event.

The new black hen by the name of Naomi was in full and dreadful flight - attacking the head of The Great McTealc (at his feet lay a smashed and broken mobile phone - his or hers we will never know) but the man was A ROCK!

He stood in all his Highland Glory unmoved and unshakable - the thighs of a solid tree beneath the swirling kilt caught in the breeze - and without fear he clasped the enraged bird to his breast and calmed her with words from the auld country until she became soothed against his broad chest.

I didn't get any eggs but by then I had forgotten all about breakfast!

Three cheers for the Great McTealc!

Have you ever seen BRAVERY BEYOND BELIEF in action?
Oh My Gosh. "the thighs of a solid tree beneath the swirling kilt caught in the breeze"

I gotta have a stiff cup of tea and have a lie down to still my shaking legs and my trembling hands. Oh My Oh My Where are my heart tablets.

How do I tell them about Santa?

I am fed up of allowing a fictional character to take all the glory for the presents I spend a lot of money on.

I would like to tell my children that there is no Santa. So how's this for an idea - on Christmas morning, I arrange a life-sized model of him, lying dead by the tree. So that next year, they won't expect anything from him, because he's dead?

How do I tell them about Santa?
no - that still means he gets the credit for this years presents. wrap one of the little presents in newspaper and put a 'from santa' tag on it. tell your children that santas been having some problems this year so you've had to buy most of their presents for them.

x
Reply:well, thats a good way to spoil christmas for your kids!
Reply:That's a pretty cruel thing to do !! Forgive me but you also sound a little selfish when you want the glory..is that what Christmas is all about to you ? Most kids just grow out of it...

It was better that you never played along with the lie to begin with!
Reply:My youngest is seven, she has questioned the existence of Santa this year.

I told her that Santa did really exist long ago, his name was St. Nicholas. I then proceeded to tell her the story. After, I said that now days Santa cannot afford to get ALL the children presents, it costs far too much money. I told her that parents go and buy the presents then send them off to Santa just before xmas, then he delivers them. You get the best of both worlds, she knows it is us who buy her things and also she still believes in Santa!
Reply:Okay, I hope you are joking, for that is a really BAD idea if you actually care about your children's psyche. I personally have never hid the fact I need to go shopping. I ask them what they would like for Christmas. My eldest asked me blatantly at one time if Santa was real, and I said it was a beautiful story, and that some kids believe it, but no. You see, I don't lie to my kids if I don't have to. I want them to be able to believe me. Just tell them it's a fun story, but that Christmas still comes, it's just something parents do for their kids because they love them. And if they want to choose to believe, there's no reason to discourage that, for they and you will both know it's just a game at that point. I understand frustrations of the season, but don't do anything mean to them just because you're frustrated.
Reply:glad you were not my parent how cruel, there are better ways than that.
Reply:YOU ARE THE MEANEST PARENT ON THE EARTH!!!

When my kid found out, he was downstairs OPENING 6 of his presents, laughing.
Reply:LOL

no just tell them that Santa got fired and made you there PERSONAL Santa. that's what my mother did for me, so during the year I'd ask her for the stuff.

i understand what you mean about Santa, i never really believed in Santa because my birthday is the 29th of DEC so i got no gifts on Xmas anyway.
Reply:I do hope and think you are kidding! If not I think a very mean hearted Prat is lurking about in parent's skin...

Charles "That Cheeky Lad"

None the less...A Wicked Happy Christmas to everyone!

Peace and prosperity to all!
Reply:stop spoiling the fairy tale!!....There IS a Santa!!!..I just tell my kids that WE buy their presents, and Santa brings them (if they've been good!)
Reply:How about you buying a giant pair of underwear and pulling them up over your head because you are being a GIANT ***!!! Just because your unhappy doesn't mean you should ruin the idea of Santa for your kids. If you need to have your children give you all the kudos for their Christmas gifts then you have a bigger problem than not getting thanks for holiday gifts. How sad that your self esteem is that low that you would do this to your kids!
Reply:You can`t kill Santa
Reply:are you telling me there is no santa???? get real, hes alive and well and living in the north pole with his little elves and reindeer
Reply:sure fire way to traumatize your kids .
Reply:just tell them truth about st nic that's all...tell them that al thesse gifts are blessing and so on...i never i mean never believed in santa.
Reply:you are such a meenie let the kids find out in their own time
Reply:What and call in the police to investigate the death!! Its a fantasy that inspires children's imagination. It also starts them questioning reality when they suss, which starts them on the long path to adult enlightenment. The loss of Naivete is necessary to protect them in adult life from all the monsters out there.
Reply:thats pretty disgusting and one day your kids will find out that you bought all the gifts under the tree so dont worry so much about your precious money. my parents used to put half the gifts from them and half from santa. but if you want to be a jerk then do your little christmas morning plan.
Reply:Honestly... kids figure it out pretty quickly. My niece is three and the family is actually trying to convince her there really IS a Santa. If you don't try to convince them... they'll figure it out faster then you can buy the gifts.

I swear... every christmas now. I think the little ones put on a show for us. "Oh my gosh! Mommy and Daddy.... I mean... Santa brought us SO MANY GIFTS!"
Reply:oh that is really cruel..... how about when your kids still see him on TV and stuff???

You can't kill santa - let them find out when they are old enough
Reply:oh thats so bad but im guilty of laughing.
Reply:The better question really is, how did you find out?

What went through your mind?

How did you react?

How can you make this event less stressful for your kids?
Reply:If you are not comfortable perpetuating a lie, perhaps you could reframe Santa as the essence of Christmas, the spirit of giving. Or you could say, "Some people believe..."

Avoid using Santa to keep your children in line or as a punishment for bad behavior.

If you want my advice, I would teach children about the real St. Nicholas instead of the magical fairytale comes-down-through-the-chimney Santa.
Reply:Noooooooooo! You can't kill santa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...
Reply:How about the truth?

If you keep lieing, when will they believe you.

John 8:44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.
Reply:Yep like your style but a flaw would be.....what about the reindeer and the sleigh will you have life size models of them too.

But trust me keep it going for a while, for when its gone youll miss it....make the most of it after all its only money, so why do you need to have the kudos of them knowing you have bought everything.
Reply:That would be extremely cruel of you and possibly scare them for life. Tell them that Santa represents the idea of unselfish giving, that we are to be givers in life and not just takers. Tell them that Christmas is a time of giving and that you give them presents to set an example for them to follow. You do not have to interject religion into it, nor do you have to give it a purely commercial or dogmatic meaning.
Reply:Your sad sick twisted and so selfish, i feel so sorry for your kids!#

But on the other hand that wud be funny as hell!!!!!!!!!

Yup do it kill santa! and as a speical treat cremate him in ur garden and let your kids say a few words
