Question for Wiccans, Pagans, Native American healers, etc?

I am new to all this, but feel like it just comes naturally to me. I started a new cleansing/blessing ceromony in my apartment. It was pretty simple.

I have oil burners in my living room, bathroom, and bedroom. So I took this little tray I have and put 3 tea light candles on it like a triangle. I also put the scented oil (nag champa in 2, morning glory in the bathroom) on the tray and a small glass of water. I lit incense in the kitchen and bedroom,(also Nag Champa) and grabbed my tray with one candle lit, and my abalone shell with burning sage and started in the kitchen and worked my way to the bedroom, refilling and lighting the oil burners and fanning the sage.

I didn't say anything, I just focused on bringing happiness to the rooms, especially in sad places. I'd concentrate until the negative energy was gone and then move on.

I made this up, and it worked good. Who else does ceremonies like this? And am I chosen to do this, or did I get lucky? Thank you for your answers.

Question for Wiccans, Pagans, Native American healers, etc?
I am a practicing Wiccan and have been for years.

You did close to what I would do. You may be meant to do it. Congratulations on finding your path.
Reply:You've accomplished a very well done ritual smudging and house blessing all in one ritual. I think it was a bit more than luck. I believe there was also a spiritual memory at work. The right oils the right rooms and the right actions. well done

Reply:You did great! You don't need to add words, your feeling and concentration were the most important thing. I have done something like this in each place I have lived and the methods have been different each time - depending on what the space needs. If it's something that feels comfortable and natural for you then you could certainly count it among your blessings.

Blessed be!
Reply:It sounds similar to what I did in our new house before we moved in.

A lot of people say that when they read about or practice paganism, that it feels "natural" to them or it "makes sense" or it "feels right" - you're not alone in that regard!!

And definitely follow Brookstone's recommendation to write down your rituals and start a record of them (whether you call it a Book of Shadows, a Journal, or whatever) so that you can refer to it in years to come if you want/need to. =)
Reply:Great Job!!! You do sound like a natural. I agree with Brookstone on writing things down. I also agree with Pagan Earth Girl that what you come up with on your own out of your own heart is better than getting things just from a book. Some one else said you put in your own creativity and energy...I call it "medicine". You have good and powerful "medicine". Whatever you call it you did great.
Reply:Well done. You don't actually have to say anything. Even the items aren't all that important except in the beginning. Items are just items. They're to help you concentrate and focus.
Reply:Burning candles and incense is probably harmless enough so long as you observe fire saftey. Pretending that those things get rid of "negative energy" is rather simplistic and childish but if it amuses you go for it.
Reply:Any ceremony or ritual that you create from your own heart will be better and more effective than anything you read in a book. Good job!
Reply:I think you did an awesome job. I would suggest, before you forget what you did, write EVERY step down so you can begin your Book of Shadows. You may remember now, but after performing several cleansings, spells, rituals, blessings, you'll forget this one and you may want to do it again if you ever move. I write down everything I do and keep the ones that worked for my BOS and discard the ones that didn't so I don't confuse them.

Good luck on your path.

Blessed Be.
Reply:Awesome ritual!

The great thing about this way of life is that you follow your intuition.. you do what's right for you.

You connected with Spirit, and that's what really matters. The way you go about it is completely your own and that's why it felt like you were meant to do this... you put your own creativity into it and your own energy.. and it was amazing.

Congratulations!

Many blessings as you follow your path.

Has anyone ever had a "Blackie" sweet potato to bloom?

I have bought the "Blackie" sweet potato for several years because of it's beautiful folliage. Last year I noticed some lavender blooms and I thought a morning glory vine had gotten into my "Blackie". I started to pull it out and on closer examination, I noticed that the blooms were all attached to the "Blackie". It bloomed all summer long and even reseeded itself and I had volunteer plants come up this year. No one that I have spoken to has ever had a "Blackie" that bloomed. I just wondered if anyone else has ever had this experience.

Has anyone ever had a "Blackie" sweet potato to bloom?
yes, mine has bloomed all summer and is still blooming after a recent rain and it is now the end of Sept. I found out last year, that these plants actually produce potatoes underground, even though my plant supplier said they were non-bearing.
Reply:I haven't had it happen in my garden, but I have seen it at a property that the company I work for maintains.

Sweet Potato vine (Ipomea... I think) is in the same family as morning glory. That was a very astute observation. I'm not sure how to get it to do it again. I thought the flowers were pretty.

Congratulations on a rarity in the garden.

Should prostitution be legalized?

There was a story on a radio show out of Chicago (Grover's Morning Glory) about how in Vegas the prostitutes have to get checked for all diseases and there has been a significant drop in AIDS over the past three years as a result. And not to mention the prostitutes have to pay taxes on their wages.

So, should we legalize it around the country? Why or why not?

Should prostitution be legalized?
Yes.as long as they were required to carry health cards and go in for periodic health screening. However, make the penalty very stiff for violators.Prostitution is the oldest profession any way.So we should clean it up a little.Because it is not going to go away.Men will always seek the company of prostitutes. At least they will be free of STD's The needle freaks will be put mostly out of business. This is the opinion from a conservative,by the way.
Reply:tough question...because it is going to happen whether legal or not.....you would have to think about the consequences ...... if prostitution was legalized we would have an increase in infidelity (if thats possible), our young girls would consider that as an easy way to make money....afterall is is legal! they would use that as an excuse and morality of prostition would no longer exsist. Also even if checked for a disease...eventually (because sex is the business) it will be transmitted from one of the clients to one prositute...and on and on........I don't like the idea but i wouldn't be surprised if it was legalized.
Reply:Well, it apparently works OK in Nevada, but that's a long drive.

Let me ask you something. What's the matter with one man and one woman making a lasting commitment to each other in marriage and honoring that commitment for a lifetime? Even some birds and animals do that much.
Reply:yes prostitution should be legalized, however i doubt this legalization a bit as it might create unknown issue which we might need to deal..........in future
Reply:YES prostitution should be legalized for the very reason you stated. They would be cleaner and they would pay a lot of taxes because everyone knows SEX sales.
Reply:Hell yeah, then I wouldn't have to buy Vaseline!!!
Reply:Yes
Reply:I'd perfer if clinics opened to cure corrupt perverted minds. That'd be more efficient than simply allowing heathens legal right to exercise their own perversion. One involves themselves in that act to REPRODUCE. That's the logic behind the function of intercourse. If you're not in love with a person, creating a child will be harmful to their upbringing and thusforth to society. Balanced Well-adjusted children grow in environments with love and care, not because of a cheap thrill at a price. Think about it.
Reply:If the prostitutes are paid extra taxes for their job, then they would legalize it. It's all about how they can get money, they don't give a damn about what one of them could do to any given man's marriage, let alone immune system. It's all about the money.
Reply:uh first of all women shouldn't be prostitutes period.what the heck is wrong with you? and if you think too many men cheat on their wives now.image if they legalize hookers.there will a 98% divorce rate.
Reply:No.period.
Reply:I live in Reno Nevada, It is legal here in some counties. I hear its a good living if you don't mind having mindless, meaningless sex with gross truckers and old fat guys
Reply:yes
Reply:Why not? It's the oldest profession in the world and is going to happen anyway, so the ladies may as well be checked regularly for diseases and taxed - maybe it'll help knock down Bush's record budget deficit. And, its legal in the Netherlands as well. Call them and Nevada progressive and the rest of the US backwards.
Reply:I find it hard to believe that a country such as the US, claiming to be all modern and open minded, has not done that yet.

It is the oldest profession, and by legalizing it there is a chance to regulate it, such has regular check ups and paying taxes, it could also help get rid of pimps, who do nothing but collect and beat up their "girls".

LEGALIZE PROSTITUTION, IT WILL ALSO REDUCE THE RAPE RATES IN THIS COUNTRY
Reply:it wouldn't matter it happens anyways
Reply:Legalized , inspected , taxed , medically certified , and price controlled .

If it's legalized a $100.00 or more a pop , we'll have a whole new crop of gals working on their backs ,3 days a week .

4 tricks a day x 3 x 100 , not a bad pay check .
Reply:absolutely, for the reasons you stated yourself, it has proven beneficial in LV in many ways, imagine the other positive impacts it may have on...say...crime reduction? Tax dollars spent on something other than these silly hooker and john round ups (and personnel).....

Reply:Check your e-mail. I sent "Morning Glory". Please use with care -- Oasis is a good artist and deserves respect for their work.

Places to see and shop at Times Square?

I like anime, Sanrio, and Morning Glory stuff too!

Places to see and shop at Times Square?
The Hello Kitty Store (42nd btw 7th and 8th)
Reply:You are in the center of the theater district. It is all expensive tacky shops for tourists.

A block away is the Diamond District.

If you want cheap, go to Chinatown. They have stalls along the street where you haggle for knockoff watches and purses and stuff.

If you want expensive to to almost any place in New York from macys to sacks. Fifth Ave shops, etc.

Whatever you want is in NY. Just not at times square. You need to specify what type of shopping and where in New York City.

Help me identify this texas tree please?

I've been trying to figure out what kind of tree this is. http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z315/... (the two that are closer to the camera) Their location is north central san antonio. It's got a lot of these hanging things, along with the seed pods. http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z315/...

I guess what got my attention was those brown hanging things. they have little spikes that are like little seeds, but they can't be seeds because the pods are the seeds?

Someone told me if it had purple flowers then maybe it was a texas morning glory aka mescalbean. But i've never seen it flower all year at all. (you can see some pink flowers in the first pic but that is from the tree behind it) It just has a ton of those hanging things, and then it grew the pods.

Help me identify this texas tree please?
From the second photo of the pods it appears to be Mescalbean of family Fabaceae ( It is a sub family of Leguminosae and earlier known as Papilionaceae family . It is a Bean or Pulses Family as all beans , legumes and pulses come from this family ) . Details with photos are given below . Please confirm or reject.

Texas Mescalbean (Calia secundiflora, formerly Sophora secundiflora), also known as the Frijolito or, confusingly, as Texas Mountain Laurel, is a slow-growing, common shrub or small tree native to the southwestern United States (Texas, New Mexico) and Mexico (Chihuahua and Coahuila south to Hidalgo, Puebla and Queretaro), well-adapted to its arid to semiarid environment.

An evergreen, its leaves are pinnately-compound, with small, roughly spatulate leaflets; the leaflets are rather thick, and waxy to the touch.

Never tall, and rarely having a straight trunk, its bark is smooth in all but the oldest specimens.

Uses---

A popular ornamental plant, it is well known for its highly fragrant, purple flowers (the smell is sometimes compared to Kool-Aid) and very hard, bright red seeds. The reddish wood it produces is potentially useful, but as yet has little commercial value.

http://www.aridzonetrees.com/AZT%20Inter...

This is an often-misunderstood plant, frequently confused with the mezcal plant used in tequila manufacture, as well as with mescaline, due to its name of "mescalbean".

Further adding to this is the fact that the beans were in fact once used by some native American tribes as a hallucinogen, before being supplanted by peyote.

This plant does not contain any mescaline, however; all parts of it are highly poisonous, due to the principle alkaloid cytisine, which is chemically related to nicotine.

Weed controll?

Through out my lawn I have what looks to be white little flowers. My neighbor said that it could be Morning Glory. I have no idea. If it is how could I get rid of them. They are starting to grow every were.

Weed controll?
My neighbor has it too, it does look like morning glory!

Call a company to do a weed %26amp; feed application. Make sure they use liquid weed control, it works much better. DO NOT water after they apply though, the weed control needs to sit on the weed for as long as possible!

You can go to the store and buy some type of weed %26amp; feed, but they just don't provide the results a company can that uses liquid.
Reply:It sounds like clover maybe? If the weeds are isolated, you can put 100% white vinegar on them and it'll kill them. But it will also kill healthy grass, so don't get in on your grass.
Reply:ck is right, It is white dutch clover, It is good for the honeybees, leave it be, and it will quit blooming after a while!
Reply:Apply a good weed and feed to your yard. Make sure to do it just before a rain or at least use a sprinkler after applying.

How to teach a blind baby?

My son was diagnosed with Morning Glory Syndrome and something else called Duane's Syndrome. When sight is a very key facor in development how can i teach him. I am 19 so i dont know alot of info in this area he is 5 months old.

How to teach a blind baby?
I have a very good friend with a blind and deaf baby. What a wonderful mommy you are for stepping up and taking control of the situation.

Here is a link for you to look at hon,

http://www.wonderbaby.org/articles/in-on...

God Bless you and Your little one.
Reply:Hi there! I just wanted to reassure you that being blind will turn out just fine! (I hoped that rhymed!)

My wife is blind, I’m visually impaired, and so is our oldest baby girl. She’s 2 now. There are numerous ways to teach a blind baby. Now here’s the tricky part. Don’t let your emotions and sorry for baby knock you off course! You have to be strong for baby! Now, in the beginning, it might seem like baby is developing slow, but don’t let it fool you. Baby will develop fine! If I can give you any advice, it’s to stay in contact with your baby. Talk to baby, touch baby’s hands, and allow baby to feel different items. (Of course make sure there’re safe items!) I think you’re bee just fine!

I invite you to e-mail us if you have any questions, or just need some support from parents who’ve been through it! We lived it, and are living it! Always a pleasure to help you out! Chal for now! And, congratulations on that new baby!
Reply:Ask your Dr!

I'd use books with big and bright pages.

Good luck with your son! You must be a strong women for God to give you such an important job to do!

: )
Reply:You are obviously a very good Mommy and want the best for your precious little sweet-pea. I am sure there would be some wonderful support groups and learning centres to give you advice and assist with his development - have a look on the website http://www.nfb.org/nfb (the National Federation for the Blind) they have contact list for each state for parents with blind children and even have special products and helpful ideas and things you can do - other Moms you can meet with and chat with etc. I do not have a child who cannot see, but I do have 4 children and I know as a Mommy you want to do anything for your babies - so I hope this helps you sweetie. Bless you.
Reply:I'm a mother also..i think the best thing that you can do is by talking to him often..read him a story book,he can hear you and be able to speak his first word soon...and also teach your baby a sign language..he can express his feelings by signs and let him express his own sign language...it is important to him that you understand his signs and be able to trust you as his mother, always talk to him and let him feel your face, hold his hand and touch him when you're at near...touch therapy is all he need.if you want to teach him new things like a rubber duck or a ball..let him touch those things and tell him what is it..i hope this things will help...
Reply:As I do not have the answer to your question I would like to tell you that this should come very easily to you because you love your child and it is obvious! Kudos for being such a wonderful mother so quickly! I hope that you find all of the information that you could ever wish for!
Reply:Talk to your local hospital. They should be able to steer you in the right direction to get the help and valuable information you need. Research the internet, cuz you can usually find just about any info there.

Just remember, we don't miss what we haven't had. God bless you for being such a responsible parent at such a young age. I wish you the very best!

Reply:Sleepies, eye bugars, eye batter, eye crusties are all one an the same my friends. This material build-up in your eye (usually after waking up) is caused from dried tears and oil accumulating in your eye. When you are awake there is a drainage apparatus that keeps this substance from building up... when you are asleep however, that apparatus is inoperable.

However, having an overabundance of these 'eye crusties' can also mean that there is an inflammatory reaction going on in the eye. The eye is increasing production of tears (which contain germ fighting antibodies), to fend off pathogens.

As for a technical term for this substance build-up I don't really think there is one friends..... just stick with 'eye-crusties'.

What is the common name for Datura Inoxia flower?

This is a large, white, night blooming flower in the form of an annual shrub, not to be confused with a vine of the morning glory family which is called moonflower. The blooms do not hang down like angel's trumpet.

What is the common name for Datura Inoxia flower?
Datura inoxia (angel's-trumpet, thorn-apple, downy thorn-apple, Indian-apple, moonflower, sacred datura, toloatzin, or toloache) is a species in the family Solanaceae. It is native to the Americas, and introduced in Africa, Asia, Australia and Europe. The scientific name is often cited as D. innoxia.
Reply:Datura Inoxia is variously called angel's-trumpet, thorn-apple, downy thorn-apple, Indian-apple, moonflower, sacred datura, toloatzin, or toloache. Although it is not the same as the various plants you mentioned this is due to different people giving different plants the same name. If you want to be exact with any plant you'll have to use the latin name.
Reply:it is sometimes known as the Devils trumpet.
Reply:Angel trumpets.

The seedpod is called a Thornapple :)

Hope this helped you! :)

HEAVENLY BLUE Pods- Noticed something....?

Upon further examination of my 'wild' Heavenly Blue morning glory seed 'pods' - they are not pods, but the 5-6 seeds are mature and turning dark formed the shape of a pod. My pink M.G. seeds are in the inside of a true pod, reseed and return.

My question is this... does this indicate the species of Heavenly Blues that are a commercial hybrid strain and will hence NOT reseed next year?? THANKS everybody.

HEAVENLY BLUE Pods- Noticed something....?
Heavenly Blue isn't a hybrid and should reseed and be true to bloom. Meaning that the plants that grow next year will be the same "Heavenly Blue" that you have now.

Maybe the pods you've noticed didn't get pollinated or something but they do produce seeds and they are easy to collect and sow the next year if you don't want mother nature to do the work.
Reply:Here I go again, guessing. The pod does not indicate hybridization. The seed packet, or the plant tag does. Secondly, they will reseed. They may, or may not reproduce as the original plant, but they will reproduce.

Who really won the British War (Oasis vrs. Blur)?

During the 90's, Blur and Oasis were rivals, but it seemed like Oasis won the war, with their hit album Morning Glory, but does it end here? With Gorillaz, and Oasis's newest studio album(Don't believe the truth), is it still waging on?

I read somewhere Gorillaz's single Dare was released the same date as Oasis's single, and Dare outsold.

Plus, recent news says Blur will try out for a new album in November, and I think Oasis is started an album as well!

In your opinion, who do u think won or "will" win the Oasis/Blur war?

I got my money on Blur, Oasis's singer Liam gallagher doesnt really have a voice anymore : /

Who really won the British War (Oasis vrs. Blur)?
It's not so much a war as Radiohead trumps all. My money on the better band is Blur. Morning Glory was an amazing abum, but I haven't been impressed with anything other than that from Oasis. On the other hand, I actually want Blur to make a new album.
Reply:Oasis I'd have to say
Reply:oasis cos they are still going now. they are working on a new album. damon albarn has left blur and is the front man for the gorillaz
Reply:For the young generation, Oasis won hands down.

I strongly recommend "The Masterplan"

It's a compilation of Oasis' best B-sides and you'd love it if you loved "(What's the Story) Morning Glory?"

Reply:Hopefully never...

Seriously, that album is about 10 years old... They put out some between now and then... I think they sucked, but If you like them check them out...
Reply:Noel Gallagher has often been quoted that their first album Definitely Maybe is his favorite and is really pissed off that more people buy What's the Story (Morning Glory?) Rather than definitely maybe. I would check out Definitely Maybe next.

How can i get seeds from an annual flower?

i have a morning glory flower and want to know if there is any way to get the seeds out so i can plant them next year.

How can i get seeds from an annual flower?
The seed pods will turn brown and before you know it, the underneath of the plants will be absolutley littered with these pods. If you don't want the seeds, just let them rest and they will reseed all on their own. I love morninglories but they can take over your yard and are vigorous reseeders. The one year that I did not clean up the pods, I had morning glory coming up everywhere. OK if you want morning glory everywhere. I preferred to have the morninglory in a contained area.
Reply:when the pods are dry and brittle the seeds will be ripe, store in a cool dry place.
Reply:Unless you want to plant them somewhere else-- leave them alone and they'll reseed them selves.

Otherwise, after the vines dry you'll see the seed pods-- there are usually 4 seeds per pod. Pick off the pods, rub them in your hands over some newspaper and pick out the seeds.

Colors-- if you planted all one color-- the seeds will probably be the same color. I planted red, blue, white and pink-- I'm interested in what I get next year.

good luck

Everyones taking this Imus thing to seriously, don't you think?

The question states it all. There are many shock jocks and shows out there on the radio that say far worse things! I am a huge fan of O %26amp; A and ROVERS MORNING GLORY. Far worse things have been said and done on these shows, and one stupid comment people flip out, whats the deal, get over yourselves

Everyones taking this Imus thing to seriously, don't you think?
You are giving the impression that racism is okay. Hate is always a big deal, joke or not.

So if you can express what you hate, why can't we? LET us blow it out of proportion. It's freedom of speech, right?

AND IT WAS A FLAT OUT RACIST COMMENT! What did you hear? It was sexist, too.
Reply:He should not be allowed to say what he said without a penalty. It's wrong. And just because there are other idiots out there saying more offensive things does not make it O.K. to say what he said.
Reply:His apology should be taken as seriously as his stupid remark. He is a man of good deeds. A lot of people hearing this broohahah won't know or understand that because they don't ordinarily listen to him, and only know what they're hearing from the media now. That's unfortunate. What he has accomplished in support of wounded soldiers, sailors and marines by raising money for the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund, helping to expose the atrocious conditions for wounded veterans in the health care system at "building 18" at Walter Reed Hospital, and getting the death benefit increased for service people killed in the line of duty, as well as his work on behalf of children with cancer, sickle cell anemia, and his fundraising for autism and SIDS research should all be included in every story about this, but no one mentions ANY of that.
Reply:"Remember not only to say the right thing in the right place, but far more difficult still, to leave unsaid the wrong thing at the tempting moment" -Ben Franklin

It is all in what you say. If you are in a position where the public is watching, regardless of whether or not there is freedom of speech or not you have to watch what you say. That is what is boils down to. It may have been funny to him at the time but he could have kept that off the air and between he and his producer.
Reply:I agree with you. Too many people get upset over comments, when all they have to do is simply turn it off if they don't want to listen! A shock jocks job is to be funny and ..... oh my gosh ....... shocking. Imus did his job.
Reply:Nate I agree entirely- 3/4 of the people now raising stink about what Imus said would not have heard it if it wasn't broadcast/printed a hundred times by different sources other than Imus. Most of those people don't listen to Imus.

If it was so damn offensive, why are the comments being repeated by every news organization known to man?

It's Imus, 2 weeks ago he said Pu**y on the air- he's always cutting on someone- he didn't mean to offend anyone.

People need to get over themselves.

NEWS FLASH- It aint' all about you.

ADD- Anybody else see the Vols beat those girls? You missed a killer game sorta- we beat em like a drum.
Reply:He's an old brain-dead man who shouldn't have been on the radio for years. He hasn't even been entertaining for decades! Just get him off the air %26amp; let it go! Aren't the people dying in Iraq %26amp; Afganistan a LITTLE more important that this %26amp; American Idol??????
Reply:Yes it is very out of proportion

I think he is someone the press would just love to attack if they can figure out a way to
Reply:Have you ever been the butt of a joke or slammed on without warning?? Not a good feeling. Has your mama ever been called a "nappy headed ho" or that you are the pasty white son of the Michelin man? No?? Then you have no idea how words hurt. Yeah? Then the right to be angry is right there.

One smiling when another calls that one a "ho", "b*tch", *******", "ch*ink", "sandn*igger" etc is crazzzzzy. Accepting it and "turning the other cheek", ha!! Those days are over. Kicking the sh*t out of that smack-talker, out of love, is the new way to go. When those Rutger girls go to see Imoteph, I mean Imus, I hope they rip him a new one.

I have to make a small point that urban radio, movies and videos are to blame. People buy and see this all over and they automatically believe that they are familiar, run up and say things without consequence. I hate to spell a rule out but white people cannot say that sh*t. Even J-Lo can't say that sh*t!!! As Ice-T cover said "Freedom of Speech, Just Watch what you Say." Unless one is ready to deal with the consequences and repercussions.
Reply:I can understand someone like YOU not getting why others take it seriously. I personally am not. But yes, it is a serious matter regardless of anything.
Reply:Probably because these were personal attacks on students. I don't know that it was the hair or tattoo comment. However, he called the 'Ho's' and they are not necessarily adults. They are University students trying to do their best.
Reply:This isn't even about racism. It's also about sexism. These women were at the pinnacle of their sport, playing for the national championship. They should have been celebrated. Instead, they were ridiculed and degraded by a two-bit shock jock. Forget the "nappy head" remark, what right does he have to call them whores in such a public forum. Those girls gave their hearts and souls to their school and to each other in an attept to achieve the ultimate in their sport, and I feel sorry for them that this is what they will remember most.
Reply:Not everyone...SHARPTON took it WAY too seriously and the media...always open to a drama no matter how detrimental it is to society... took that and ran with it.
Reply:So, are you saying that it's okay to be an ignorant racist???

Is this good, bad or normal? And will I sleep again?

My 8 week old eats about every 3 or 4 hours. However regardless of time he wakes up anywhere from 1-3am to eat like 2 oz. Then he wakes up again at 5 and will eat maybe 1 or 2 oz. These small meals make me think hes just playing and wants attention or is a morning glory and just wants to get ready for the day. How normal do these times sound

Is this good, bad or normal? And will I sleep again?
since he's only 8 weeks, it's best to feed him everytime he wakes up at night.. Since it's only 2 oz, he may be dozing off before the feeding is done.. Or is not hungry at all, but so used to eating that he can't stop.. Try offering a pacifier or your [clean] finger instead of a bottle, and see how it goes.. Since your baby is only eating this little, it will defenately not be long untill you both sleep through the night. Don't try to get him to eat more at night.. he'll get used to filling his tummy more. This is actually really good for an 8 week old, so you're doing a great job!!

So keep the little feedings at night, but first try another method of soothing before offering the ba-ba
Reply:It sounds completely normal for an infant.
Reply:normal. he may be falling asleep before he gets his fill though.

here are some suggestions to keep him awake:

1) uncover him--if he's still warm and snuggled, he'll be more likely to go back to sleep. so, cool him off a little.

2) take a wet cloth and wet his face or his feet

3) change positions more frequently--moving him from your left to right arm

4) blow air lightly on his face

5) keep him moving--move his arm or leg back and forth while he eats

hang in there. it will get better. work on getting him a full meal at each feeding and not just a snack (however long it takes). that will help him stretch out his sleeping periods as he gets older.
Reply:The times sound normal. I am trying to recall at what age the doctor told me we could stop the 2 am feeding. I think it might have been 3 months. My 11 month old still wakes around that time, but I noticed that he will aslo fall right back to sleep on his own without a feeding.

Talk to his doctor and they can help you figure out if that mid night feeding is still needed. I think it depends on how much he eats throughout the day.

But until then.... that does sound normal.
Reply:He is normal. Infact, be thankful he waits 3-4 hours most of the time. At 8 weeks, he is too young to know what attention is. He is still focusing on eating and sleeping and being with you. It is impossible to spoil a newborn. Hold him as much as you can the first 3 months. After that, they realize how to get attention.
Reply:Babies at 8 weeks are definitely going to wake up at night for feedings but trust me it will get better....ours followed the "normal" development of phasing out night feedings at about 5 1/2 to six months...but once you can get it down to one feeding at night you'll feel much better.

I don't think that he's trying for attention...maybe he is going through a growth spurt or needs that feeding between 1 and 3 to soothe himself back to sleep if he wakes in the night. This is normal and will get better...don't worry!
Reply:my daughter did the same thing. then at supper time i started giving her a small amount of baby cereal. then she would be more full and it would help her sleep longing at night. now she sleeps all night. she goes to bed at 8 and sleeps to 7
Reply:ya i will get some sleep again but not now how old r u? well anyways well i hope i gave u the help u needed so ya bye!!!!!!!
Reply:Completely normal - my 7 month old still does that. i go with it. I live in hope of a full night's sleep again oone day...
Reply:it sounds normal. especially if he is breastfed. but even if formula fed it is normal too. sometimes babies feel a rumble in the tummy or have a small messy diaper and it wakes them up. once up of course they want to be fed. not as hungry as they thought they were they don't eat much and go back to bed. as far as your sleeping i know it's easier said than done but try to nap when he naps it really does help for the long nights. if you are already back to work and can't nap during the day see if dad can help out on one of the overnight feedings. so that way you get alittle more sleep. but really this doesn't normally last too long. my daughter grew out of it at about 10 weeks old. my son was roughly 3 months old but he had his night and day reversed. also at 8 weeks he should be alittle more alert to interact with you. try stimulating him into talking, give him some tummy time, sing to him. all of the above tends to wear a baby out and in turn helps them sleep longer. good luck to you and him.
Reply:Ditto on the normal and on sleep when the baby sleeps, I know how hard that can be though, I have a one year old who is still nursing and still wakes up for a 4am feeding but she sleeps for 5 hours and then she sleeps again after she nurses and when that happens I want to get up and do things that are hard to do when she is awake and then I don't get my sleep so I have to balance and I sleep when she does when I can get myself to relax enough to do it. I have to stop worrying about all the things that need to or could get done when she is sleeping because it can all wait so that I am mentally at a good performance level for the rest of my family and myself and life stuff during the daytime. good luck from another sleep deprived mommy
Reply:It's normal. If he is four months old and still doing it you can try getting him into a semblance of routine but for now it's absolutely normal.
Reply:Completely normal. Welcome to motherhood. And yes you will eventually sleep again...when I dont' know b/c mine are 2 and 4 and I still lay awake at night and worry about them. My best piece of advice. Take naps when the baby does if you can. If not, have someone you trust come over every now and then and keep an eye on the baby while you shower and take an hour nap. It will do wonders for you.
Reply:Completely normal. Yes, you WILL sleep again... and hang in there. The next four weeks should see him settling into a more "normal" schedule... most babies start sleeping through the night... like a 6-8 hour stretch by 10-12 weeks.
Reply:Those are normal feeding times for a newborn, even though some times do vary. Don't worry though, thing will change and soon you'll both be sleeping through the night. Good luck
Reply:def normal for a baby that age. give it a few more weeks, he'll probably get into a better routine as he develops more. Every baby will settle into their own routine at their own pace though.

Alfie tree/shrub?

I cannot find this shrub/tree! It has trumpet shaped lavender purple flowers that resemble hibiscus or even morning glory. This is the only name my parents were told. Thanks!

Alfie tree/shrub?
I think it's a variety of Rose of Sharon shrub. Lots of lavender, trumpet-shaped blooms that flower on all sides of spiky-shaped stalks.

Although, I've been told that Rose of Sharon flower colors can vary with the acidity of the soil they're growing in. So the lavender/purple part of the equation might not always hold true.

interesting, I've never noticed but its common for a band to play a song different when played live so they don't get bored with it.

"Morning Glory"

Charcoal black or freshly brewed

My faithfulness is well construed

Poise of mind is slight, I fear

Robust and bold

Pot a day

Filtered grounds of dawn’s cliché

What are the laws regarding use of psychedelic plants for religious purposes in in the U.S.?

lately ive been growing morning glory and san pedro both of these were used by my ancetors for religious purposes. im thinking of making an achohol LSA extract but im not shure how leagal this is im not a religious person but im more than willing to claim a religion if it means i can cosume these things w/out worying about leagal reprecusions. So my question is what do i have to tell the cops so they will leave me alone

What are the laws regarding use of psychedelic plants for religious purposes in in the U.S.?
your religion has to be tax exempt and be allowed by a special directive to make use of illegal drugs. Very rarely is this granted.
Reply:All parts of the morning glory plant are legal, but LSA extract is a controlled substance (illegal).
Reply:they wont leave you alone if its illegal it wont matter if its religious or not
Reply:You can't just arbitrarily claim a religion in order to get around the law. The law does provide exceptions for certain religious groups that are known to have historically used these substances, like certain Indian tribes.
Reply:yeah... just like pligamy is aginst the law so is smoking weed. yall cant smoke for "relegious purposes" if my mister, who is muslim... cant marry me too... but there might be a case if someone got enought money to fight the usa

What can I do with a small triangular garden area at a corner intersection?

I need to redo a small garden area, triangular-shaped, that is very high profile as it is located on my property at a 4-way stop. Right now it is full of morning glory that is impossible(?) to get rid of so I may have to even use ground sterilizer. What creative ideas do you have for this space? I have a few ideas, but it is always fun to see what ideas others might have. Thank you in advance for your input.

What can I do with a small triangular garden area at a corner intersection?
My favorite attractive low-maintenance landscaping consists of liriope grass (monkey grass, mondo grass, lilyturf grass; pick your term) http://www.bloominacresfarm.com/images/V... This grass can be variegated, single colored, short, tall, even evergreen. It spikes flowers in purple, blue, or white. I add small boulders to the liriope for contrast.

This type of landscaping is easy-care; liriope spreads and tolerates drought once established, and rocks never die on you. I am always careful to get large enough rocks, and partly bury them, so that neighborhood kids aren't tempted to throw them at one another.
Reply:i planted a hibiscus tree and planted flowers around it made a sm circle and put mulch on it to. put a solar light for nite time. i had a sm duck made of ceramic it was broke so the neck pc was left, i have it stickin in ground looks like duck is coming out of ground. different.
Reply:I would, firstly raise the level of the center part to make it more prominent by way of a nice rockery or a mound of sorts that should be in scale with the site. Don"t know where you are so cannot recommend plants, suffice to say they should be tough beggars that do not require much maintenance.
Reply:I am not sure how big the corner is, but here is an idea. Plant a few different varieties of hosta lillies in it. Add some tulip bulbs and/or daffodils for the spring color, add some tiger lilly or asiatic lilly bulbs for mid summer color and then each year you could add some annuals to the outside border, such as marigolds or petunias.

For the morning glory, I feel your pain. It blooms a pretty whitish purplish flower, but kills all the other plants by choking them off. Grrr..... One of my neighbors tried mixing a weak solution of borax with water (something like a tsp. of borax to a gallon of water) to try to get rid of the morning glory. I think it worked for her because I do not see it anymore in her plants (roses). HOWEVER, I am not sure what the effect of borax is on bulbs.
Reply:what about caladiums ? they are very pretty and easy to maintain . if you really want to get rid of the morning glories use round up and wait a month before you plant anything else . good luck .
Reply:If you want something pretty maintenance free day lillies are a great way to go. They fill in quite quickly they are beautilful when blooming and nice and bushy when not blooming. There are all kinds and colors I really like them

DXM = the best?

I'm poppin an entire bottle of Robitussin (DXM only) today in about 2 hours. This is my second trip on the drug(i've done many others though such as Morning glory (LSA) Ganja (of course), Mescaline, alcohol and countless other things). But ya does anybody have any fun ideas to do while on, sick movies to watch?

DXM = the best?
How about stop doing drugs, get an education, and get a good job? How does that sound? Too "real" for you? Huh? Huh?
Reply:jacob's ladder is supposedly one of the best and worst (at the same time) movies to watch while on drugs. I've heard it produces very extreme effects, although they might not be pleasant.

I'd be careful with DXM though, it can really mess people up, especially if mixed with other drugs such as alcohol.
Reply:It's cheap and legal, but I don't think its the best way to get high. What the experience lacks is the mental high that marajuana or psilocybin can deliver. DXM is a completely physical sort of high. One's mind is not really involved much in the experience. I also disliked the "haingover" the next day. The effect is hard to describe, but I found it extremely annoying.
Reply:I love to be outside while I'm tripping. I go for long walks in the woods and stuff.

I worry about DXM thought. I know you've got the robitussin with only DXM but I've heard you can have bad side effects even from that. Do you have a trip sitter?
Reply:I know I am a little late. But I agree with Gwen.

Go outside, play with nature. That is the greatest thing to do while tripping.

Life changing experiences in the trees.

Does anybody know of any natural products that can get you high and or hallucinate?

I know the basics Marijuana, salvia divinorum, Shrooms, morning glory etc. but wanna know some others that may be growing in my garden or in the woods near by, Gillingham in kent.

i wanna know of like plants or herbs etc.

please, no time wasters, if you dont get high and want the world to no how "bad it is to get high" then go leave a message somewhere else, i know the consequences of getting high.

Does anybody know of any natural products that can get you high and or hallucinate?
THERE ARE A LOT OF IVORY LEAVES THAT WHEN CRUSHED IN A MORTAR AND PESTLE PRODUCE A GUNGY LOOKING PASTE. THIS IS SPREAD ALL OVER YOUR FEET ESPECIALLY YOUR ANKLES. THE EFFECT IF WIERD. KIND OF FLOATING YET RADICALLY ALTERED AT THE SAME TIME.

THIS IS HOW SO.CALLED 'WITCHES' "FLEW" IN THE MIDDLE AGES.
Reply:I don't know personally because I've never been high but I have heard about some cactus juice that makes you high. Not all cactus have water in them, some have a liquid that that makes you hallucinate. So you may want to go somewhere and find some wild cactus and start drinking away.
Reply:ye more like you wanna start selling them you druggy..........
Reply:Lack of sleep for about 36 hours usually works for me.

Seriously though, nutmeg, passion flower are know hallucinogenics

Theres deadly nightshade and foxglove, but it will kill you in the process, so would strongly advise against it.
Reply:ive been told the seeds from a moonplant will get u high
Reply:My husband knows a few but he won't tell me. The only ones I know are banana skins %26amp; red peanut skins.
Reply:I want to see some better answers for this question.. All the answers so far suck ***!!!
Reply:laurel leaves..get you fooked up!!

martins trainers will knock you out, stick ya head in the oven! that'l get ya high...and of course...CATNIP
Reply:get a peyote cactus, it's full of mescaline

also get the book called LEGAL HIGHS it is full of suggestions on how to get high without breaking the law. You will be amazed at exactly how many everyday plants can get you ripped.
Reply:Your local police department can help you with this one. No, seriously. Ask them about the plants around your house and they will be more than willing to show you which ones are good for getting high and which ones are toxic.
Reply:Dog's pee and alkatelzer. It will blow thy mine away!
Reply:I get my high's from meitation. This may sound corny, but i have been doing this for 35 years. I can go in as deep and as long as i want. I control the prosses. The side effects in my case is that I am now a professinal healer.
Reply:yes- a plant called hemlock-witches covens used to use it by boiling it up to a yellow pulp and then ingesting or preferably painting it onto their skins to give them that floating feeling. also causes hallucinations.
Reply:here try this website..konakavafarm.com
Reply:Does returnofambo want to kill people? If Datura Stramonium is what I think it is (thorn apple) it's very toxic. I've no personal experience of it even vicariously, but I've read that people have died from astonishingly small amounts of the juice or parts of the plant.

Similarly be careful with most of them. Alkaloids are the plant's self-defence; they're meant to do nasty things to you, and they can. They're not all acutely poisonous, but most of them have side-effects, sometimes even if not. actually eaten.

When I was 9 my friend played at "smoking" a tubular stem of spotted hemlock. Hallucinations and delirium, yes - but also agonising cramps, vomit, diarrhoea and heart palpitations. He survived, but his parents were worried bunnies for a few days.

If half-poisoning yourself for a high is your bag, go ahead - but don't say you weren't warned. I know you say you "know the consequences" but ignorant fooling around with plant poisons is a quick road to proving that you don't, the hard way.
Reply:Try datura stramonium, the old jimson weed. Email if you survive, I'd be interested in a trip report....

Better Album? (Oasis)?

Which is the better album, Definitely Maybe or (What's the Story) Morning Glory?

Both are incredible albums and honestly I can't choose between the two.

Better Album? (Oasis)?
Definitely maybe.

Came out of nowhere and kicked a*s! Not a bit of filler on it, and doesn't include Wonderwall (sorry but that song just grates for me)
Reply:Definitely maybe is great but they really seemed to click with their song writing on What's the Story Morning Glory
Reply:They're equally good, but if forced to pick I'd go with Definitely Maybe
Reply:(What's the Story) Morning Glory? ... Damn good album
Reply:(What's the Story) Morning Glory? is way better in my opinion.

because i love don't look back in anger.

Pagans: Are there any Shamans, Witches, Ceremonial Magicians, etc who...?

...have used legal herbs in a ritual or to induce sacred meditations? I have an interesting book on Native American Shamans and their experiences, but I'd like to hear of your experiences with legal herbs. (henbane, datura, morning glory, etc.) ONLY 18 OR OVER SHOULD ANSWER, PLEASE.

Pagans: Are there any Shamans, Witches, Ceremonial Magicians, etc who...?
I do not do any drugs who are illegal, and manage to reach, through much difficulty, similar states of consciousness through ritual, meditation, drumming, etc.

However, I don't believe the government should make illegal herbs which are SACRAMENT to so many religions, including most traditional native religions here long before the governments appeared! This is a serious seperation of church and state issue, and anti-American. If your religious sacrament is Marijuana, or if it's a mushroom containing Psilocibin, it's not the place of government to hinder a religion's sacramental choices.

I believe there are some herbs, which are far more dangerous (because the dosages are harder to get right) but are legal to take and can induce these sacred states..... Wyrmwood, Belladonna are two I can think of right off the top of my head.

http://www.herbs.com/Web_store/web_store...

www.botanical.com/botanical/mgmh/n/nig...

To my knowledge, both of these are deadly if taken too much of! But neither are illegal... You've got to ask yourself if the governmental regulations stop the safest religious drugs from legallity, but leave ones that very well could kill you, what is the true reason behind such absurd laws?
Reply:Also, to add to the Answerers opinion: Just so you know, the herbs I am discussing are NOT ILLEGAL and grow in many flower gardens( brugmansia, angel trumpet, Datura, passiflora or passion flower, etc). LEGAL. Report It
Reply:Way before I became Wiccan I tried Pot and didn't like how it made me feel.

Now that I am Wiccan I prefer to meditate with drums, candles, and music.

Each person is responsible for their own lives but please keep in mind that just because it is legal does not mean that it wont cause harm to you.

Blessings
Reply:I agree with Tahuti. I think the Government, if you can legitimately prove you belong to a religion that has such a sacrament, they should legalize it for you and any other religions that wish to use that drug for their sacrament.

I've heard Peyote is a cool drug to do for spiritual reasons.

Marijuana is also a good one.

Otherwise, I wouldn't touch anything else I don't think. Both of those drugs have little or no side-effects (except getting high!)
Reply:You can reach a state of trance through drumming. The drugs only help the process along, but you can reach it without using them.

I think I read somewhere that only a full blood native american can use peyote.

I also read toad licking can get you into a strange frame of mind, but never did drugs to reach a trance.
Reply:I have tried nutmeg (the spice) a couple of times. It's perfectly legal and you get it in every kitchen.

The dosage is about 1 gram per 5 - 10 killos of body weight. Be careful, though, it takes a VERY long time before it starts working, even as much as 6-8 hours. You peak after about 8-12 hours. DO NOT take another dose after a couple of hours, it will not bring on the experience on any quicker, but you're in danger of overdosing.

There's another drawback, which is it tastes HORRIBLE.

About the high: it starts very very slowly and gradually, at first you just experience slightly heightened senses (especially sense of touch). Then after a while, you start experiencing synesthesia (merging of senses). It was really cool for me the first time, I was lying in a dark room, meditating a bit, and I had some low atmospheric music on. After a while, the music took a tangible form and it was all around me, I could actually feel the tones on my skin. It was wonderful.

The third trip wasn't so good, though, I was just hyper-sensitive to everything to the point where it annoyed me. So it really depends if you have a good or a bad trip.

Just DO NOT overdose, because it takes an equally long time (6 hours) after the peak for the effects to go away completely. Make sure you have a FULL day of time, with nothing to do, because you will feel slightly weird for hours after the experience and you can't really do aynthing when you're in the state like that.
Reply:I have tranced out during drumming. About the only way I could meditate (I am so Type A). Drumming is a safe and legal way to reach altered states. I never knew which herbs might interact with my meds and I was beyond straightedge when I was Wiccan.

Hope that helps
Reply:Salvia divorum works for me but only in 5 or 10x strength. Stay away from some of the stuff you mentioned. you must be getting involved with some Castenada stuff.
Reply:Many cultures have used mind altering substances with the intent of reaching a higher consciousness.

And don't we still do that? Even "ordinary" people?

Feeling sluggish and sleepy in the morning? Are you grabbing for a cup of coffee or an energy beverage?

Feeling shy or nervous at a party, or feeling wound up at the end of the day? Are you pouring yourself a glass of wine or having a cocktail?

Does anyone here use tobacco?

There is a definite difference between drug use, and drug abuse. Using a substance just to get messed up is never to be encouraged. Using a substance responsibly for an intended spiritual connection or inward journey is another story.

I personally can reach a state I'd like to be in through meditation, trance work, ecstatic dance, drumming, repeating a mantra, etc.. I don't feel a need to experiment with any substances. But I will not scold anyone else who chooses to do so.

One of my friends has used Salvia Divinorum. He is a Buddhist. He was even featured on the local news here in Philly once. His face was all blurred out and his voice was altered, of course, to protect his privacy.

He invited me to witness one occassion where he used it. It was pretty interesting. The effects were immediate, and then wore off within ten minutes. He claims that it takes you into an instant sense of being connected to the Universe.
Reply:smoke some pot and youll have the same results.
Reply:You're just looking for an excuse to get high.

Describe your dog's dog house. What do you have around it, and what does it look like?

I'm geting an australian shepherd in a couple of months, I'm realy excited. I have a sheltie but hes just to damn mean, I made a dog house for him last year, and he never goes in it, once i tried to teach him, he went in, then went our and won't stay inside. i'm going to teach my aussie early to like her dog house, i'm going to have vines (sweet pea, morning glory) all around it, and lillies, perannuals, and other annuals around it. But if she has blue eyes, i'm going to have all the flowers blue. Whats your dog house like?

Describe your dog's dog house. What do you have around it, and what does it look like?
My dogs live in my house. It has a large, fenced in yard along with central heat and air. They have a choice of TV or PBS when I am gone. Why don't you let your dog live in the house with you? It can hardly guard the house if it's kept outside.
Reply:Dan, are you serious? I have never had a dog that liked to go in an outside dog house. If the dog likes it, fine, if not.....
Reply:I have several dogs and their house is about 2000 sq ft, it's in the middle of renovations so there are lots of baby gates up because the tile is being regrouted. It has central air, and lots of plants, but hanging from the ceiling so they don't get eaten. They have pallets on the floor of the room they sleep in and it's the biggest room in the house. We sleep there too, and sometimes when we have only adult dogs and no puppies, we even get to sleep without a pup. They like that room best because that's the way to that special "outside" place. However, since this is Florida and they are big german shepherds and 1 medium husky, they like going back in their house because it gets too hot to stay outside for very long. :)
Reply:My dog has a dogloo. It is a dog house but its like a igloo. Its plastic. It has lots off stuffed animals and blankets in it. It is just out side the backyard door. around it there are lots of bushes and flowers. He sniffs them when he wakes up. He likes it alot. He like sthe part thjat he can see everyone from it so he isnt so much alone. try putting the house so that if you are outside he can see you very well!
Reply:well my dogs, dog house is huge, it has a livin room a kitchen two bathrooms and 3bedrooms,

theres a tv, coal fire, a computer and a fish tank in his livin room,

to be honest i think hes slighty spoilt.
Reply:i see a dog house as a waste of time and space. i mean a dog isnt going to go into it if it doesnt want to. so y try. and y would u put flowers around it that is stupid. some flowers can be toxic to dogs. is it going to be an outside dog. if so just make sure that u have a little area that has a roof on it like for instance if u have an open porch with a roof over it. and then just put a bed there. then it will be fine. as long as it has shelter it will be fine. ur thinking way to much about this. dogs dont really need dog houses. they r a waste of money
Reply:Right now my dog house is three bedrooms, living room, family room, kitchen and two bathrooms. A doggy door in the back so they can come and go as they please.

In the past, my ex-wife would not let the dogs stay in the house. So we had a 4'x6' dog house. It was filled with ceder chips and a foam rubber dog bed. The funny thing was she would play like Snoopy, from Peanuts. She would stand up on the peaked roof of the house. I don't think she every went inside.

When I got my Chi/Rat Terrier I bought one of those Igloo dog houses and a nice bed. All he did was drag the bed out and shred it. I got the doggy door and everything has been great since then. It ever works with my other younger dogs, a Beagle and an APBT.
Reply:my dogs dont have dog houses. this might sound really stupid, but what are they used for? do they actually live in there their whole lives? no rude comments about this question please.

Is this true?

the song lucy in the sky with diamonds what is it really about? and is it true that morning glory seeds contain LSD. And is it tru that yellow submarine the movie made by the beatles was based on a LSD trip

Is this true?
Thats rubbish Livvy!!!

Most music they did pre 1965 was the run of the mill 60's pop it wasn't until the hippy free love stuff that happened in the mid 60's did they start experimenting with hallucinogenic substances!

Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds (LSD) - yes that is true! But as I say above in response to Livvy's post where she says most of the Beatles music was under the influence of LSD is absolute poppycock!!!
Reply:Yes, its all true.

Pretty much anything to do with the beatles was created by LSD, and what great things it did for them! Can you see where they're coming from, trippin'!!

Do you agree that Oasis are overrated and just living off the reputation of some great early songs?

Definitely Maybe was great.

Morning Glory not quite as good.

Be Here Now self indulgence.

After that I gave up.

Do you agree that Oasis are overrated and just living off the reputation of some great early songs?
Oasis are constantly in competition with themselves, trying to top their earlier stuff.songs like Lyla would be career highs for other bands but compared to Live Forever,it just isnt that great
Reply:Definitely maybe!!! But im well happy with it!!!
Reply:I like the Summer Fruits flavour the most, very refreshing!
Reply:Definately Maybe is still a blinding album, and ...Morning Glory was good but not great, and that's when I gave up. Everything else since has sounded like a third-rate Beatles tribute band. So yes, they are hugely overrated now and are definately living off past glories.
Reply:yes. noel is much better than liam. dey had a few good hits but they are fading away into uselessness
Reply:Never really rated them anyway. Always thought they were a rip off beatles clone. Became famous for animosity between them and Blur, who were much more original. If they weren't fronted by the Gallagher brothers, with their arrogance, they wouldn't have lasted this long.
Reply:I did'nt even realize they were still playing music...but then I don't listen to commercial radio anymore...

try Arcade Fire.. love them very Joy Division feel to their music
Reply:no, i`ve been a fan for 10+ years...i don`t think they are finished, i agree that their music now isn`t up to the same quality as their earlier stuff, but i`m not giving up on them just yet!!!

What is the funniest thing a Non-Diabetic has said to you?

We've all heard some funny stuff coming from the mouths of Non-Ds. What was your favorite moment?

Mine was, I was out with some close friends, who all were aware of my diabetes, and the restroom in a restaurant was too crowded for me. So I figured I'd real quick-like shoot up at the table. I'm in the middle of my hasty process and my friend Adam says, "Spunk, you'd pop a ringe right here at the dinner table? Look at all these people!" and most of them turned to stare..

It's just diabetes folks, not SARS.

What's your story, morning glory?

What is the funniest thing a Non-Diabetic has said to you?
I'm on a pump and when people see my pump, they ask what kind of pager I have. When I tell them that I am a diabetic and that I'm on a pump, the respond with "Oooh, you have diabetes bad don't you?"
Reply:Lol I have two stories! One happened to me, and the other happened to my friend when I was with her at the mall, lol, good memories!!!

First my own experience:

I'm in my high schools marching band and I'm diabetic. Well one day after a marching contest hours away from home, we stopped at a buffet restaraunt called Ryans. Because there were so many of us, the waiters and waitresses were coming to our tables to get our drink orders so nobody would accidentely spill anything. When a waitress came to my table, all my friends ordered coke. I was last to order and, as I'm diabetic, I ordered a Diet coke. The waitress stepped back, looked me up and down, and said, "Girl! You do not need a diet coke! Please! You're not fat at all! You look good!" So then I said that I did need Diet because I was diabetic, and she turned BEET RED and started apologizing like crazy! lol!

And then one time, My friend, who is also diabetic, and I were just walking around at the mall. She has a black pump. I still take shots, ugh!! Anyways, She was talking on her cell phone because her mom had just called. So then some really cute guy walkes over to us with this..look..on his face. He said all nastily, "Oh look! A little rich girl, huh? Has a cell phone AND a pager!" So then she hung up and said in this sad, teary voice (she's a great actress, lol!). "What? This isn't a pager! this is an insulin pump? You're so horrible! You just insulted a handicap!!" Then her eyes tear up. All acting of course, and we all know that diabetes isn't really a hadicap at all, but hey, lets ignore that little fact, shall we??). So then he got this horrified look in his eyes and started apologizing to her. Then he offered to buy her a free coke. She said "make it diet?" He said sure. Well, I wasn't about to watch my friend get a free diet coke when I was as thirsty as a horse, so I mentioned I was also diabetic. He got me one too! lol.... I'm thirsty.. gonna go get a diet 7up...yummy!! lol!
Reply:My daughter has had diabetes since she was 2. She is almost 18 now.

When she was younger, people would ask me if she has to "take the needle ".

Then they would tell me not to give her shots since she was so young and it will hurt her.
Reply:My father in law is a diabetic (tho he will NOT follow his diet etc properly), he constantly calls me twiggy (as I am only about 66kg and 5'8") %26amp; I call him Shrek (got a big gut on him) or humpty dumpty. I now have a pump (praise my endo for that) which has changed my eating habits tremendously. I used to have to eat all the time as I am a brittle diabetic, now I can get away with a hell of a lot more than I used to. Well he is constantly saying to me, you can't eat that or what is wrong with you you haven't eaten anything. I am so sick of explaining to him why I can now eat as I do grrrr. Now that is certainly the pot calling the kettle black. My hubby has told me I need a utility belt so I can carry my pump, my mobile %26amp; my bsl moniter lol. I have a friend who also is a brittle diabetic %26amp; gets sooooo sick of peole saying (who are non diabetic) you shouldn't be eating THAT. That was a subway, salad (the one that they talk about from the biggest looser), this woman is HUGE she could probably eat a horse in one sitting. I also had an old fellow walk past me in town one day and muttered under his breath eat something, have also had a women say to me when I was buying a diet drink 'you don't need that you are too skinny' I turned to her %26amp; said I will swap you my health problems for your fat,she shut up pretty damn quick.
Reply:not diabetic, but I avoid sugar and carbs like the plague and they keep insisting on you eating things."just this time" or "its fruit-its good for you, you cant cut out fruit!" when visiting I refrain from lying and saying Im diabetic but judging from the comments here , it prob wouldnt help anyway! People are so ignorant. But on the other hand, many will be diabetic themselves sooner or later judging from the trends in health now.
Reply:Ha! That's a great story. I love having the diabetes police watching everything I eat - "should you be eating that?" "won't that put you in a coma?" "I didn't think you are allowed to eat ice cream"...
Reply:Doesn't that hurt? when seeing a blood test for the first time.

My former classmates were a riot, they knew a member of the class was a brittle diabetic, and ate all of her candy everyday. She brought extra. Still ate it all.

What do I do if you pass out? is a good one.
Reply:wait i dont get it...
Reply:I just read in a magazine about a teacher who got fired because she pulled out a student's insulin pump mistaking it for a cell phone. If you even look at those a little bit closely it is so obvious they are not cell phones or pagers.... what a B..... and you know the kid had to be saying "I swear it is my insulin pump... leave it alone" at least she got fired
Reply:well, not exactly to me, but to a pretty good friend.

she has a pump and ppl were trying to guess what it did.

apparently its a mp3 player, a thing for her ears, and a pda...
Reply:I have 2 diabetic daughters. One was diagnosed when she was 2 and she will be 9 next month. And my 4yr old was diagnosed last year 1 week before she turned 4. She will be 5 next month.

The one stupid question people always ask me is "They'll grow out of that won't they?"

NO NO NO!!! UGH! Diabetes is NOT something you grow out of! @@ They'll have it until there is a cure! How hard is that to understand? People are so uninformed!
Reply:A family member saw me giving my daughter insulin and asked, "Does it hurt? Why do you do that if it hurts?" I replied, "Well it was a tough one and I thought long and hard about it. In the end I chose this over death."
Reply:It is a sad kind of funny - but I get "I understand" a lot, and want to shout - "No you don't!"

What's your favorite meat substitute product?

I just discovered Morning Glory Veggie Corn Dogs. You would never know that it is not a hot dog on the inside.

What's your favorite meat substitute product?
The veggie riblets are incredible. we just had those for lunch today, on pieces of baguette. mmm!

also, when it comes to chicken nuggets and tenders, Quorn owns. i had a taste test of nuggets at my house with a dozen teenagers and the Quorn products won unanimously.
Reply:I like sausages...
Reply:Boca crumbles. I make an AWESOME chili with them.
Reply:Once, a friend of mine barbecued a groundhog...and it was delicious. Groundhogs are vegetarians! So, I got my veggies indirectly...but then again, cows are vegetarians too.
Reply:Fish
Reply:It's either meat or it's not and I don't even attempt to make a veggie blend look like a steak or a pork chop by shaping it in that form. Just plain silly. If you want to eat vegetables, eat them and don't pretend it's meat.
Reply:I eat all the meal replacement bars But make sure you drink alot of water with them
Reply:%26gt;%26gt; Nutmeat ~ Is a vegetarian meat substitute.

Ciao!
Reply:fish is the best. i mean i believe cows are sacred, and pigs are disguisting animals that should not be eaten. so i stick to chicken, turkey, and fish. that's it. also vegetables and fruits.

Worm Compost for Seed germination?

Can i use Verimi compost for Seed germination.

Im sowing seeds of Dianthus, Morning Glory and Putunia, along with Chilly and Tomatoes!!!

The compost looks dark balck with a lot of mositure content in it. Can i leave the Tray with the seedlings in the sun, and keep it moist until they germinate. IS Sun good for seeds? I know its good for plants and trees in common.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Worm Compost for Seed germination?
Worm castings are very good growing medium. I would suggest you consider mixing it with a potting soil for your seeds.

The moisture may cause mold which would kill your seedlings.

If you have have the room try a small area for just the castings and see how it goes. filtered light would be best for for germinating seeds, than introduce to direct sun gradually as the seedlings grow.
Reply:you need sun for all growing things planting in strait compost is ok
Reply:Of course you can!

Leave them out in the sun, and they will be naturally warmed up.

any help?

Help finding my old horses Sold in Grass Valley CA?
Unless you have conatct info for the current or previous owners, I don't know that you can find too much out. Maybe some of your old friends know something about them? You could call around barns in the area. You can even search horses for sale, although you probably won't come up with anything unless you have specific info like registration numbers.. Horses are so tricky to keep track of!

Well, good luck! Hope you find em!

What do you think about this poem?

Life's a pleasant tradition.

Life's wing is as vast as death.

Life's a jump the size of love.

Life's not something,

we put on the mantel of habit

and forget.

It does not matter where I am.

The sky is always mine.

Windows, ideas, air, love,

earth, all mine.

Why does it matter if sometimes,

the mushrooms of nostalgia grow?

Let's take off our clothes.

Water is just a foot away.

Let's have a basket and

fill it up with all the greens

and all the reds.

We are not to comprehend;

the secret of roses, but maybe

swiming in the incantation of roses.

Or may be looking for

the song of truth

between the morning glory,

and the century.

What do you think about this poem?
Content is good but it needs to be more structured.....
Reply:Agree with murcia, content good but needs to be more structured.
Reply:yes. it's quite philosophical, quite a scathing comment on the excesses of human society's everlasting avarice. it is ironical as it may give false impression that it is reflecting on the mysteries of life.
Reply:Got good near the end

;-)
Reply:hrrrrrrm, its a bit hard on the eyes as it is laid out. A poem ought to scan fluidly and draw the reader line by line and stanza by stanza to its conclusion... I see this as 4 stanzas with a 5th waiting the last two lines.

The content is sound up to the last7 lines... then the images blur and "incantation" is perhaps not the best choice as one cannot swim in a speech or a chant. it lacks a little bit in its conclusion, an extra two line to deliver a final punch would transform it... you have a great style developing here, id love to see you take the work, tweak it a bit and then re-post it.

The Poet has the hardest lot of all writers, im a prose man myself, to capture both image and meter and make it yours is a hard thing indeed. Keep writing! you have talent but you must concentrate and be ruthless in your editing. We are always our own worst critics! This is a good thing, as it saves time when you are face to face with publishers.
Reply:It's purpose is there, it's got great, verbose content and stirs the images I'm sure you want it too, structurally it needs some work to make it flow with a bit more ease. Well done!
Reply:I like it

It deserves a wider audience.

I like/agree with the underlying philosophy.

Reply:nice but a bit hard to understand in places!
Reply:its kinda complecated like Shakespear's poems.

Keep writting you are on you way to the Top.

I LIKE IT THOUGH.
Reply:IF you must ask us to critique your poetry which is not too too bad then please put it in proper lines and stanzas so we can read it as you intended it to be read....

rather than applying our own interpretation based on where we think the thoughts divide or end etc

Your imagery is good if a little fanciful your brain is frankly mush (as far as I can tell) and some of your statements are definitely at odds with my views.

But.......
Reply:My first reaction was negative i had to read it a few times before i got the feel of the poem. did you write it for yourself or for others to enjoy sometimes simple is better it didnt seem to flow and the negativity i first felt took a while to go before the optimism and joy of life you were potraying came through.but then again what do i know. i am no poet but i do enjoy reading poetry take heart that after a few readings i did get to enjoy it mainly due to the feeling that came from the poet and you are a poet and i may be just a little bit thick never let any negative views stop you from writing from the soul Well done
Reply:I`d go along with graceful g except to say that I find it more reflective than scathing. The subtext references an idealised fantasy against which the subject reality is judged. I wonder if the incantation of roses might not be a subconscious condensate of Shakespearean sonnets. Also I detect a calm acceptance of fate within the iambic parameters that lead into and out of the mushrooms of nostalgia. Certainly one that will need a few days to percolate through.
