HEAVENLY BLUE Seed Pods not drying out in PA?

Hi- The seed pods of my Heavenly Blue Morning Glories are still on the soft side with white seeds inside.

These came up wild late summer in an excuvators topsoil. I was, and am deliriously happy as I rememember these from my youth.

I have 'wild' pink m.g.'s and their pods are brown, crispy and full of black seeds.

My neighbor gave me some heirloom morning gloriy seeds and they are just now blooming and they are BLUE, too!! Oh happy day! ( It doesn't take much ) How can I preserve these seeds and/or roots for years to come?

your morning-glory seeds were not germinated, next year you should do better!
Reply:I have the same problem with moon flower vine seeds. The right answer I got was that the growing season in zone 5 is probably not long enough for the seeds to mature. From your description, the plants blossomed very late in the season. I think the same thing applies to your morning glories. Not enough time for the pods to mature.
Reply:Pollenated seed pods will dry naturally on the vine. Leave any pods until they dry. Picking them green will result in non-viable seed. You may be surprised to find next spring that they have self seeded.
