Is it true that if a dog's nose is DRY, he's SICK??

My dog has dry nose for quite some time now and i have noticed his being timid 3 days ago. he is a german shepherd, he's supppose to be energetic... he's eyes also secrete morning glory(the mucuos..haha). then yesterday, he vomitted.. is he sick???

No, it's a myth about dry nose. It just means he's not hot and sweating. But I would be concerned about the vomiting! Take your dog to the vet.
Reply:Wet nose or dry nose, if they are sick they are sick. How damp the nose is doesnt mean anything, not with cats either. If he is vomitting, he may have eaten something he should not have, so it is best if you call the vet.
Reply:He could have a bit of a virus (dogs get colds too ya know!) Just give him a little more TLC and if you're really worried than take him to the vet.

As for the nose thing, I don't believe it.

Reply:Yes it is very likely!! Especially if he is acting that way. Another way is if it is dry and warm. That often times mean they are sick or something is wrong. However, sometimes they are just sleepy. If it is dry and he is acting sick and a bit different than usual. It wouldn't hurt to take him to the vet.

Reply:ok check list time look at your dogs gums they should be bubble gum pink or black or both then check if your dog is hydrated grab the scruff of his neck and let go the skin should go right back into place then yep you guessed it temp time get a dig.therm. temp should be 100 to 101 thats norm. if his gums look pale like white or light grey or if his skin stays up and dont bounce back he needs a vet but if they look good you can give him some pepto tablespoon and give him plenty of water ,ice cubes and pedialyte he will be fine if he has a little temp dont get scared thats ok when we dont feel good pepto every 6 hours... good luck

vomiting, no energy, withdrawn? questionable could be sick, get him checked at the vet asap.
Reply:Yeah, something's wrong... Their noses are supposed to be wet. Go get him some help! I hope you haven't fed him any of that contaminated pet food.
Reply:my dog's nose gets dry sometimes, especially if she was sleeping and hadn't been drinking for a while. I wouldn't worry about it too much unless its been continuing for over a day, because she may be dehydrated. Although the dry nose thing isn't a huge worry, the fact that he's been lethargic and vomiting, thats definitely a concern. I suggest you call the vet, tell them the situation. They will ask you more specific questions and be able to figure out if you need to come in right away, or if you should just monitor her for a little longer.

A dry nose does not always mean they are sick.. but the runny eyes and the vomitting say he is not feeling up to par hon.

Reply:oh he could be sick. my dogs nose is dry sometimes but thats when hes sleeping. ur dog could of ate grass or something not good for dogs. but idk =]
Reply:Yeah it is true. My dog got a cold and it's nose got dry. Just a like human cold he was better in a few days. If your dog doesn't get better in less than a week you should take him to the vet.
Reply:Not sure about that whole dry nose = sick thing, but it does sound like something may be wrong if he's acting outside of the ordinary. Take him to a vet and have him checked out. Peace of mind and all that.
