In the Lake Isle of Innisfree, what is W.B. Yeats referring to when he says ..and noon a purple glow?

Is he referring to the sky or a flower like the morning glory?

I've been to Innisfree and the sky wasn't purple. It could be to do with his use of magic mushrooms.
Reply:he's referring to a flower, specifically wild heather...it's purple and grows extensively around the lake and Great Britain in general

there's a good picture at: http://www.shee-eire.com/Herbs,Trees%26amp;Fun...
Reply:a bit of a guess but the midday light and the heather...there are days when you can almost see the light as part of the atmosphere, sunset is a good example, where even a white wall will appear orange and this is suggested as to why we like sunsets so much, as our eyes are tuned to blue light more the novelty of red light lifts the spirit.
Reply:Good Question. I love this poem, my fav. not sure about the answer here, is there a definative ans. a toll!.. The way i picture it is the hazey light of a lazy summers day...
