I have a 6Ft high hedge that needs cutting.?

I think it's Hebe Morning glory(long lilac flowers). When's the best time to give it a good pruning?

Straight after its flowered if you want it to flower the following year.

Its not a good idea to prune anything evergreen when its frosty as it will die back a little, so avoid cutting your hedge in the depths of winter.

If it is Hebe don't be afraid to cut it back hard, it will regrow

Hope that helps

Usually in the case of a flowering shrub, it's best to cut it back right after it's flowered...if you do so much later than that, you will run the risk of not having any blossoms next year, as it will already have set buds for next year's flowers.

And to all of you English Estate gardeners, I am SO JEALOUS of you!!! :)
Reply:when the flowers have gone , i would leave it to the start of march no later , and do not be afraid to cut it back
Reply:After flowering and before the frosts.
