I have a hideous three floor staircase that I'd like to camoflage with some hanging plants. I would like to plant something that will hang quite a bit, that will strive in the heat of southern ontario summers and must be able to grow in window box style containers, vines are okay too. Greenery alone is okay, but I would love some colour as well. Is morning glory a good option? I get full unobstructed east sun exposure. I am new to gardening, so easy care is best for me. I would be open to planting "weeds" as long as they are pretty, and hardy - why fight mother nature.
What are good, hopefully native, drought and heat resistant hanging plants for containers in southern Ontario?
I would suggest against containers. Use a vine planted at the bottom of your stairs and guide it up as it grows. Niagara Region hardy vines: Wisteria, Ivy, Trumpet Vines etc.
