Went in for my 3rd tattoo a few days ago. The artist had designed it for me ahead of time - I was looking for morning glories. He positioned it on my torso (it's a largish side piece) and we agreed that it needed a few more flowers. So, he drew them on directly and they looked pretty good. The outline is now complete and I'm scheduled for coloring in two weeks. However, once on the bod, the flowers are not quite right. They are pretty, but not exactly like a morning glory. Morning glories are trumpet-shaped without individual petals. The outlined flowers seem to have individual petals, but I think the artist could fix it with a few touches to the outline and some shading. How do I approach this with the artist? I want his honest opinion as to whether he can fix it. If not, I'd rather turn them into another kind of flower. Also, I don't want to piss him off. Either way, I'll like the tattoo, but would really like accurate morning glories. Any opinions on etiquette here?
Slight issue with tattoo after outline, but before coloring?
It is your body, you are paying for the art and it needs to be perfect. Your tattooist wont likely get pissed of you simply discuss your concerns and questions and he/she should be more than willing to point out what they have planned, without seeing it myself I cannot say what needs to be done or what can or cant be done. Outline is simply basic shape and the addition of shading, highlights and color can drastically change the appearance of basic shape. Stop getting worked up and speak to your tattooist as soon as you can. You may just not be seeing things the way they will look at the finish, you are wearing a work in progress after all...enjoy!!!!!
