Morning Glories and their growth?

I planted morning glories(Heavenly Blue) in my front yard about 3 weeks ago. 6 days later they started sprouting, and now they are about 7-9 inches tall. I had a small bed of rocks alongside my front door that I ever so kindly asked my hubbie to remove for me so I could create some splash for my desert landscaped yard. We bought Miracle-Gro flower and vegetable soil, my 6 yr old daughters halped me dig shallow holes for the seeds and they had sooo much fun planting them. I admit I did too, although I'm not much of a gardener, but now my daughters are growing impatient because they want to know when they will see flowers. Could someone please help me determine when or even if we will see flowers so that I can make a calendar for them so they can stop asking me questions I can't answer? oh yeah I think i'm in zone 8-----I live in henderson, NV which is like 5 minutes from Vegas. Thanks in advance for all answers.

Morning Glories and their growth?
First of all, you need to provided trellising for morning glories because they are climbers. I assume you have done this. The morning glory sends out tendrils so these tendrils must afix and wrap around a trellis, string, or chicken wire. They should begin blooming about a month after they emerge. They like lots of sunlight. The drawback to morning glories is that they are a real mess to clean up in the Fall. The tendrils really wrap around the wire or string and can be hard to remove. The morning glories form big seed pods and the result is multiple new plants in the Spring. If you dont want morning glories to overrun your garden area, remove the vines before the seed pods have a chance to dry and shed the thousands of little seeds contained in each pod. Morning glories will not bloom if they cannot climb and vine.
