Do morning glories self-sow?

If so, how? I planted some along a fence line this year and they're just gorgeous! I would love them to self-sow, which I've heard they do, but I wonder how considering that when I planted them, I had to soak them in warm water overnight and knick their shells before planting them. How do they accomplish all of that on their own if they do self-sow?

Thanks!

Do morning glories self-sow?
They shed those little capsules that they make and those capsules contain the seeds. They produce thousands of these capsules. When the capsules fall on the ground, weather wears them down and the capsules open and expel the seeds. The pods become buried in the snow and general aging and wear and tear ensure that the seeds get into the ground. You can gather these capsules and use to replant in the Spring but you probably won't have to. Just let them fall on the ground and you will find them again coming up in the Spring. Beware. If you don't want morning glorys all over your property, clean up alot of the capsules that you find on the dried vines and on the ground or you may have morning glorys all over your property and can have a problem getting rid of them in places where you don't want them to be.
Reply:Yes they do self sow, mine have done so for years, but I always get some new ones and mix in each spring because the soil here is so poor they need all the help they can get. I loosen up the soil in the spring so they have a place to go.
Reply:Very, very easily.
