Do Ferry Morse flower seeds (Morning Glories) have a chemical coating?

I'm trying to have a complete organic garden, and I have a few Ferry Morse brand seeds. But I know that some brands put chemicals on their Morning Glory seeds because some people use them as drugs (?).

"There have been reports that commercially available packets of morning glory seeds from some distributors are coated with fungicides or other chemicals to increase shelf life or discourage the practice of eating them. Seeds from plants grown in one's own garden will be safe as long as you do not spray them with insecticides. "

I just didn't want to put seeds into my garden with chemicals that could possibly harm other vegetables or flowers.

THANKS!

If you're worried about contaminating your garden, try this. Buy commercially available morning glory seeds. Plant them in a pot separately and allow the plant(s) you grow to go to seed. These seeds will be clean and organic. Use them to plant in your garden. It's a little time consuming, but at least you'll know what's on the seeds.
Reply:Morning glories are among the most beautiful of flowers. "Heavenly Blue" is an especially striking variety. They will really add a touch of class to your garden and your entire yard and provide you with privacy if allowed to grow on a proper trellis. Back to your question, nearly every commercially grown morning glory seed that I've seen is coated with some chemical -- fungicide, etc. Don't worry about it. Plant the seed and enjoy the many flowers you will get from this delightful plant. And the seeds your plants produce will not be affected by the seed you placed in the ground -- and birds love these seeds.
Reply:Be warned before planting Morning Glories. Search previous questions here. Whether or not they have a chemical coating, Morning Glories are very invasive! They will swallow trees and anything else to which they can attach themselves(your house!). And EVERY SEED GERMINATES. So, if your vine blooms, it will make seed, the seed will drop(you can't deadhead it in time) and all the new seedlings will grow too! It isn't an annual either. It will stay forever!

DON'T DO IT!!!!
Reply:I suspect the only ways to be sure are:

1) to either gather seeds from a friend whose Morning Glory vine has gone to seed. In my experience, most varieties of Morning Glories will reproduce true from self-gathered seeds;

2) or contact the seed company from which you are considering purchasing the seeds.

You might also try an organic seed provider, such as http://www.seedsofchange.com.
